Has anyone else had this issue?

Thanks for the comment, however I don’t think this is a related issue. I am not having issues with WP’s search function, but am just having issues with the UTW plugin overloading the server due to open SQL connections.

I am positive this is the issue because when I activate the plugin and am monitoring the MySQL processes in phpMyAdmin, I see the UTW-specific queries popup and the process timer keeps on counting next to each one until they eventually die at around 5 or 10 minutes. It looks like everytime someone loads a page it opens up one of these queries and leaves it open. Here is one of the queries that is a problem child:

SELECT SQL_CALC_FOUND_ROWS wp_posts . *
FROM wp_posts
LEFT JOIN wp_post2tag p2t ON wp_posts.ID = p2t

I am having this same problem, and I have a dedicated hosting plan. It definately has something to do with new posts being added. On my site, we set posts to post for future times/dates, and once the post time hits, the site goes dead with the following error:

Error establishing a database connection

This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host’s database server is down.

* Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
* Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
* Are you sure that the database server is running?

Nobody seems to know what’s going on here, but it sounds like it’s a huge issue.

I’m having the same exact issue. However, I have not pinned down what the cause is. Anyone have any other ideas? GoDaddy isn’t being too helpful.

Same thing is happening to my server after upgrading to 2.1. Anyone have any info?

Just wanted to get this thread rolling again. Any thoughts on how to fix this issue? Any help is appreciated.

Yeah I’ve tried searching over and over again. Doesn’t seem to be anything with this exact problem. Somehow I just need to make it so the trailing slash is optional, but I’m not exactly sure how. Ideas?

bump..any knowledge of if samboll’s link works with 2.0 or is there another solution?

We have solved the problem and created a good solution but do not know how to, or have the time to turn it into a plugin for others to install as well. If a moderator is interested in this we would be more than happy to provide a screen shot as well as the code for a plugin to be create or for the code to be built into the next version of WP (i think it is needed and a great feature).

do you know of a way to change from a permalink with the post ID to the title but have all of our old posts be mirrored (hence use both) because we don’t want to loose out incoming links that have already been grabbed as posts with the ID
