There’s a theme support thread for this theme here, so I’ve posted this question there. In the meantime, switching to “Static Page” makes the header graphic load in IE (why?), so that’s a quick-&-dirty fix. I’ve never been particularly enamored of the bog-roll post format anyway. I can live with this kludge. [shrug]

I did this by the simple expedient of leaving the title field blank in the configuration. Boom, it’s gone. My title is layered onto the header graphic instead, and that of course scales fine.

I assume you are referring to that awful translucent monstrosity at the top. I don’t know how to do this, but I assuming it’s just a matter of commenting out a line of script somewhere. If you figure out how, let us know.

I think I removed all the widgets in the customize themes settings. None of that is on mine, though the sidebar is still there, unfortunately.

All I ever wanted was a theme with a pure graphic header on the main page screen at load (after two years of looking, I still haven’t found one!), but this theme is as close as I ever got. I’ve stripped out many uglinesses by leaving the fields blank.

I had no idea IE was such a mess, but whenever I do have to use it, I notice that a fair amount of sites seem to have trouble with it.

Dunno if the theme author is available, but I’ll try.

#1 is certainly possible and entirely likely; updates to various themes and plugins have failed numerous times for their own inscrutable reasons.

Is there a quick guideline for foolproof WP deletion anywhere here?

Well, it appears that the problem here is that either by changing themes or updating plugins, the WP installation has been somehow corrupted, generally. [sigh!]

All sorts of stuff has vanished from admin menus, not just these theme options — for example, Jetpack has completely disappeared, though it is still up and running…somewhere.

It looks like I’m going to have to do an uninstall and start over fresh, unless someone has a better idea. I wouldn’t have expected this from WordPress.
