In reply to: Aarrgh! RSS Feed broken…Weird. I’m using Feedreader now (works beautifully) – https://www.feedreader.com/ – but I still wonder why Sharpreader ‘broke’.
I believe Sharpreader uses Microsoft .NET, and I installed XP SP2 just before it all went wrong – I suspect the two are connected.
Odd that my feed was the only one that stopped working, though…Forum: Your WordPress
In reply to: new design (work in process)You might want to slim it down a bit – the background image is biiiiig (1000 pixels wide) – for people still using 800×600 resolution, your site won’t fit – horizontal scroling would be necessary to see all the content.
Also, your header image is nearly 70kb – it will take a long time to load on a dialup. Maybe a jpeg instead of a gif?

In reply to: Kirrin’s CornerTry changing the height of your ‘sticky’ div in your css – at the moment it’s set to zero pixels (0px).

In reply to: BenSaunders.com – redesign #458521134Thanks guys – excellent stuff.
I’ve already tweaked the comments section (thanks, Khaled) and will have a play around with before/after buttons, font sizes & the position of the ‘date stamp’.
Robert – thanks for your feedback as well. I’ve swapped the blockquote text for a (larger) serif font – not sure yet if this works…
As for zipping it up and sharing it? I’d never thought of that, but once it’s bug free, I’ll see what I can do…
Cheers

In reply to: Northern PassagesStunning. Way better than the first version!
If were my site, the only tiny tweakI’d make would be to the padding of the images in your posts – they seem a little bit close to the text (right hand side of images/left margin of text).

In reply to: Ok, I have my thick skin on in readinessAs others have said – good work, it’s a pretty original site.
For me, the text is a little difficult to read. I think it’s a combination of the font, colour & background image. Also the links (in the post text) are difficult to make out.
The navigation on the right hand side (Home, About, Areas, etc) would be much improved with some kind of rollover effect.
Cheers,

In reply to: Adsense after first post onlyTop stuff – I’ve just implemented this on my site. As Jeremy says, it needs an extra

at the start of 4).

In reply to: The best designed WordPress powered sitesThanks guys. After an abortive experiment with (the old) Blogger a while back, this is the first time I’ve used a full-blown CMS, and WordPress has really impressed me so far.
Sadly, as a sponsored athlete, I can’t really blog about the gritty political stuff that your (excellent) site discusses, Ryan, for fear of upsetting the people that pay the bills…
So it’ll be mostly expeditions, training for expeditions and, er, bikes ??Forum: Themes and Templates
