The ACF Theme Code plugin is primarily a tool for speeding up the workflows of WordPress developers who already have a good understanding of how implement Advanced Custom Fields in a WordPress theme. It’s not intended to be a replacement for this knowledge.

My apologies for the confusion. We could do a better job of explaining the target audience for this plugin.

If you are not familiar with PHP I suggest you start by taking a look at the documentation for these PHP fundamentals that are used in the code you posted.

Assuming custom fields have been created with the ACF plugin and data has been added to the fields, the ACF Theme Code plugin will generate the PHP code required by a theme to display the field data on the front end.

Please note this a developer tool for developers. Its primary purpose is to speed up the integration of ACF groups with a theme. It’s not a replacement for development knowledge.

We just released version 2.4 of ACF Theme Code Pro which includes support for registering Blocks – https://hookturn.io/2019/06/acf-theme-code-pro-v2-4-with-support-for-acf-blocks/

Version 2.4 of ACF Theme Code Pro is compatible with the latest version of ACF PRO and WordPress.

With regard to this free version of the plugin. It works with the latest version of WordPress and ACF, we just need to update the repo with that information. Thanks for drawing it to our attention to it!
