Fixed. Seems that the option “Autoredirect visitors if a page with a similar slug exists. For example, if it would have resulted in a 404 not found error, “/sample-pag” will be redirected to “/sample-page”” thinks my slugs all look alike.

Can you guys change the text from light gray to black on some of these options? It’s really hard to read.

I was getting an error page, too.

I de-activated 5.3.10, reloaded 5.3.9, re-saved permalinks, cleared cache and all seems to be working again for me.

In googling the problem, one commentor on a forum mentioned an issue with cURL. Since that is over my head, I reached out to my hosting company’s support folks. Here’s their response:

There seems to have been several extensions missing from PHP 8.0 and 8.1, including curl.

They installed the missing extensions and all seems to be working now.

Seems the blank dashboard was a browser issue.

However the dashboard now shows 1433 unknown errors. In clicking to check the links, it seems most so far have been working links. Not quite sure where to go from here. Do I need to check EVERY one of the 1433 “broken links”? Seems that marking them as unbroken only lasts until the plugin does another sweep of the links.

As an FYI: The issue is certainly not resolved as of my last email, but de-activating the Yoast SEO plugin allows the RSS email to be created and sent as it has in the past. I just do not have time right now to write the kind of bug report you have requested. Sorry.

I just ran an email test with Yoast SEO v18.1 activated. The email still does not work as long as Yoast SEO is activated on the website the RSS feed is coming from. Test #2 worked fine as soon as the plugin was de-activated.

I will attempt the “good bug” report when I have more time. Looks like a rather daunting task.

The first image shows the test email I always send to myself before sending to the mailing list. It said simply: No RSS items found. The email generally looks like the 3rd image (or the link at the top of this post).

When I ran the rss link through a validator, the validator flagged a parsing error.

I have made no changes to any of the settings in Yoast. And the email that was sent two weeks ago (this is a bi-weekly email) had no problems. The only change was the Yoast update.

Hope this makes sense.

I even tried it on a device that has never been used for the internet and the loading gif just keep spinning.

FIXED!!!

There was some old recaptcha code in the functions.php file and that was apparently creating the duplicate boxes. All seems to work now.

I guess there is no way to control whether you get that horrible image version of the recaptcha?

Seems to be theme related, not a plug-in issue. The theme is an older free WordPress theme. I tried to add the shortcode directly to the comments.php file, but got the duplicate reCaptcha box that way as well.
