I tracked down the problem. This was a permlink issue. The test blog we were on had posts in a /%category%/%postname% taxonomy, which is not a recommended deployment anyway due to load issues. Changing to a /articles/%category%/%postname% permlink structure rectified the conflict with this plugin.

Hope this helps any others that were having similar issues.

Ok some more investigation:

No matter how a post is made, whether through the dashboard or as a pitch on the front-end, that post overrides all posts on the site, aka all active story links on the blog then point to that new post. The same is true no matter what the “assignment status” is.

When that post is actually published, however, everything goes back to how it should be.

We are experiencing this same issue, and can confirm the bug.
