In reply to: [Akismet Anti-spam: Spam Protection] Hide "cleared by Akismet"?DOH! – looks like I didn’t “test” the above text before I released it… too many “was”s. Sorry.

In reply to: [Akismet Anti-spam: Spam Protection] Hide "cleared by Akismet"?Good idea, OTN. I’d like to be able to hide (or disable) the thing so that it doesn’t keep breaking my “Recent Comments” widget on the dashboard – the effects are visible on this screenshot: https://beardedgit.smugmug.com/General/miscellaneous/akismetbreaksmyrecentcomments/1119169690_icZsj-L.jpg
I contacted Akismet directly about this well over a week ago, I was told on the 10th that it would be fixed “soon”. No idea what “soon” is, though ??
I’ve been looking at all the various hassles that other users have had (and indeed are still having) with version 2.5.0 and it does lead me to ask the big question… was it was tested properly before it was released?
It doesn’t look like it was.

In reply to: [Plugin: WP-UserOnline] WP useronline 2.7.22.73-beta works for me too, so many thanks for that, scribu.
Is there a way for me to manually “kick-start” the values for
%MOSTONLINE_COUNT%
and%MOSTONLINE_DATE%
so that I can get back to what I had before?Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Plugin: WP-UserOnline] WP useronline 2.7.2No problems, I’ll monitor this thread and reinstall when it’s fixed. The annoying thing is that I had the previous version running just fine for months with no hassle, reporting everything accurately and displaying correctly. It only broke when somebody “fixed” it.
Incidentally, I use the “Changelogger” plugin ( https://www.schloebe.de/wordpress/changelogger-plugin/ ) which keeps saying of all of your recent revisions “Compatibility with WordPress 2.9.2: 100% (according to its author)”. Clearly this is incorrect, so it might be worth you looking into this, as it’s either an erroneous claim or a fair statement based on erroneous source data. Either way, for the punter it’s a let-down when things go t1t5-up.
Good luck getting this sorted.

In reply to: [Plugin: WP-UserOnline] WP useronline 2.7.2Damn. Tried 2.73-alpha and the most-online count has reset.
Could live with losing that if the rest worked, but it doesn’t.
I’m scrubbing the whole shebang, so don’t go looking for it in the sidebar like I suggested above.

In reply to: [Plugin: WP-UserOnline] WP useronline 2.7.2Hi scribu
I’ve reinstated the output in the sidebar of my blog ( https://beardedgit.com/ )
The code I’m using is:
Highest number of Users browsing this site at one time:
%MOSTONLINE_COUNT% on %MOSTONLINE_DATE%

%USERS% browsing now:
Does that help?

In reply to: [Plugin: WP-UserOnline] WP useronline 2.7.2Probs here too:
%MOSTONLINE_DATE%
always returns current time and date.Forum: Requests and Feedback
In reply to: Version 3.0 FeaturesHow about having an Incoming Links dashboard widget that actually works?
Releasing 2.9 with it not working was a bit rubbish, if you keep it in 3.0 and it still doesn’t work it’ll look as if you don’t give a damn.

In reply to: Fatal error after upgrade to 2.7.1I note that this topic is now marked as “resolved“, but the problem isn’t.
Will somebody please tell me how to fix this problem? I updated to 2.7.1 after deactivating all plugins, and I still get the error-message on my “edit links” page, where it restricts the number of links showing in the list to anything between 102 and 115 (out of approx 150). Sometimes the error-message appears just above the list, at other times it’s actually within the list, sitting there in the category column of the last visible link entry.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.Same problem here, I had to go back to version 1.6.2

In reply to: Unable to display category after upgrade to 2.7Well, after much cursing, the offending plugin was found. It wasn’t any of the plugins that call categories, it was the Broken Link Checker.
Thanks for the pointer, MichaelH

In reply to: [Plugin: UMapper] Error on ActivationHi Victor
Thanks for the heads-up that you posted on my blog.
Version 1.3.71 installs OK but nothing happens when I click the “Add UMapper Map” icon.

In reply to: Gravatar doesn’t displayUpdate:
I’ve upgraded WP from 2.2.2 to 2.3.1 and also upgraded from IE6 to IE7, and all gravatars are now visible. They still display different to how they do in Firefox, but I can live with it. Cheers for looking.

In reply to: Gravatar doesn’t displaySimilar problem here:
When I look at my WP2.2.2 blog with Firefox, I can see my gravatar and those of all other commenters who have one. No problems there.
When I look via IE, I can see the gravatars of other commenters, but mine behaves oddly: if I submit a comment while logged out, my gravatar is recorded against that comment just as it should. If I submit a comment while logged in, no gravatar is recorded against that comment.
Weird, eh?
This happens whichever Gravatar-enabling plugin I use, so I reckon the problem is login-related, not plugin-related.
For an example, see
https://beardedgit.com/?p=218
, be warned that the “F”-word has been used in some of the comments there. All suggestions as to how to fix this would be appreciated. Thanks for looking.
