    Hello,

Thank Me Later 3.0 removes support for PHP code in messages. All PHP code gets surrounded by [snip] and needs to be replaced with the relevant shortcode. To get the desired behaviour, you would need something like the following:

    Hi [name]

    [htmlonly]
Thank you for your comment at MyWebsite <a href="[comment_url attr=1]">on this post</a>.
    [/htmlonly]

    [textonly]
Thank you for your comment at MyWebsite. You can find your comment at the following URL: [comment_url]
    [/textonly]

I have tried with all of those plugins and cannot replicate this issue. I will perhaps add back the old code alongside the new code in the next release — although redundant, it will hopefully solve this issue. For now, I recommend you stick with 3.0.3 — the only change in 3.0.4 was support for Disqus, which I assume you do not require.

Importantly, it seems that ‘Easy Comment Uploads’ has been removed from the WordPress plugin directory. There seems to be a major security vulnerability in earlier releases, and with the removal from the directory, I am not confident that the plugin is secure even in the most recent versions. You should perhaps re-consider using the plugin, unless you are confident it is secure.

If you change the comment to ‘Unapproved’ then back to ‘Approved’, does the ‘due to be sent’ value increase? This will help me determine whether the problem is with the way Thank Me Later handles comments, or if something is preventing Thank Me Later from being notified of new comments.

Do any of your plugins deal with changing the comment status or with comment approval?

Okay, but did you notice the value ‘due to be sent’ increase? This will help me narrow down where the problem is occurring.

Does version 3.0.3 send emails okay on the test site?

The only changes in 3.0.4 have been in the way that comments are processed. When you leave a comment on the test site, does the value of ‘due to be sent’ or ‘messages sent since install’ increase on the ‘Thank Me Later’ > ‘Statistics’ page?

Are you using any other plugins which deal with comments, which could present a conflict?

It appears that Facebook’s Comments Box loads by Javascript, so the comments never actually reach your blog’s server. It would be technically impossible for Thank Me Later to work with Facebook Comments Box, since the plugin doesn’t have access to commenters’ email addresses or comments (unless I’m missing something obvious).

I will be releasing a small update tomorrow which adds support for Disqus, which perhaps you will be interested in switching to if you wish to use Thank Me Later.

From looking at the code, it seems that “Add Multiple Users” is adding its Javascript code throughout the WordPress admin, rather than its own settings page. This has the unfortunate consequence of closing the message entry box in Thank Me Later. Perhaps its worth notifying the developer of that plugin. I will see later if there are any other clashes.

I am unable to reproduce these issues. The first issue was perhaps a result if you downgraded to Thank Me Later 2.1 and the re-upgraded to Thank Me Later 3.0. I will look into this potential issue later, although I can’t see any problems with it at the moment.

As for editing the message, are you trying to edit on the left-hand or right-hand pane? You need to enter your message in the box on the left, and the message preview will update on the right.

To help me identify any problems, all or some of the following information may be useful:

    • the version of WordPress you are running.
    • the version of PHP and MySQL you have.
    • the Internet browser you are using. Is Javascript enabled?
    • any other plugins you have which deal with comments or editing content in the admin interface.

Do you happen to have 5 messages setup in Thank Me Later? If so, you will need to target the messages to specific categories or posts on your blog, or revert to having just one message. Please see this post about the changes.

With the release of 3.0.3, this issue should now be fixed. The plugin now sends emails in UTF-8 encoding. Please let me know if there are any further issues.

Aside, if you’d like to use the plugin in your own language, you may wish to help translate. I’m testing the following service to see if anybody contributes: https://www.transifex.com/projects/p/thank-me-later/resource/thank-me-later-30/

Encoding issues will be fixed in the next patch. I will probably publish this on Monday or so, in case any further issues come to light (3 versions have been released over 2 days already).

For now, I recommend you stick with 2.1. If you do downgrade, please note that if you do not explicitly uninstall version 3.0 (by clicking ‘Delete’ from within WordPress), your 2.1 settings will not be copied when updating to 3.0.x.

(Of course, if you are know what you are doing, you can make the simple change yourself).

I will keep you updated in this thread.

The logic is there and it worked when I tested it. Are you sure that it is distinct comments that are receiving the same ‘thank you’ message? If you have multiple messages set up in Thank Me Later, could it be that multiple messages are sent to the same comment? 3.0 works slightly differently in that more than one message can be sent for a comment — you will have to set explicit targeting options to target specific categories, tags or posts. The maximum send limit now applies for each message, and is not a global setting.

Failing that, could you provide some more information about your configuration:

    * the number of messages you have, and the “Maximum send limit” for each message.
    * the version of WordPress you are using (and PHP and MySQL versions, if you have that information to hand).

    Thanks,
    Brendon.

If you blog crashed when installing 3.0, please see here for more information. Upgrading to 3.0.1 should resolve this issue (provided it is indeed the same issue).

I have now released a small update 3.0.1 which should resolve this issue. Please upgrade to 3.0.1 and let me know if there are any further issues.

You can upgrade from WordPress: “Dashboard” > “Updates” > “Check Again”.

    Sorry for the disruption.

The error happens before any upgrade takes place. You should just restore the thank-me-later directory; no need to replace the databases. If you need a copy of 2.1, you can download it from this page.
