Try doing it with css instead. Add a right border to all the items, and then remove it from the last one.

but no i have another problem. After the last menu item I dont want a ‘ | ‘ symbol.

the standard theme (twentyone) will do!

-you can set the header
-you can set the comments off

you should edit the css file, there you can change it.

But it would be nice to have a picture of your problem (a picture says more than a thousand words)

there are 2 options:

1. (easy) you can change that under settings > general settings > date format

2. (less easy) if your theme is not wp 3 ready it could be that you have to change it by hand. Then you should fix it under appearance > editor (but then you have to change the code)
