Hey,
It looks like the Facebook button is responding to the click event, which Microthemer can’t prevent. If you expand the advanced targeting options by clicking the ‘show advanced’ link you will have the same set of selector suggestions under the Targeting pane (as you would get clicking the green plus).
As a side note, in version 7 (out now in beta – see my Downloads) you can use the alt key to select elements you don’t want to click – because it will trigger some behaviour like opening the Facebook share popup.
I hope that helps. Let me know if you’re still stuck.
Cheers,
SebastianOh that’s great to hear!
All the best,
SebastianOK, I’ve just released version 6.3.7.7 which fixes the issue.
In fixing another issue for speakers of non Latin languages, I accidentally introduced this bug with the custom code editor. It happens when editing selectors created before June 2021, if the selector label contains non-alphanumeric characters like dots, brackets, or Hebrew and Chinese etc.
If possible, I recommend using the History feature to jump back to the point before styles were lost as a result of using the code editor. You can then use the editor freely, so long as you’ve upgraded to version 6.3.7.7. You can upgrade BEFORE using the history feature BTW.
I’m really sorry for trouble this has caused. I feel particularly bad about bugs that cause data loss. I really hope you can restore things on the sites you were testing this on. Please let me know if there’s anything more I can do to help.
Cheers,
SebastianHey,
I wasn’t able to replicate this when trying random CSS properties, but once I installed the export of your settings I was able to replicate the issue. So there must be something in there that Microthemer isn’t handling properly. This is a critical issue to fix, I will work on it until I find the solution. I will update you shortly. Thanks so much for providing your test case.
Sebastian
Hey,
It sounds like this could be a theme or plugin conflict. If you don’t mind sending me temporary access details for the affected site via our secure contact form (https://themeover.com/support/contact/), I would be happy to troubleshoot this for you.
Some things you can try yourself:
– Disable other plugins, my first guess would be any other plugin that has a code editor. If you find the source, I will try installing the plugin at my end to replicate the issue.
– Send me the CSS you have entered into the code editor that triggers the issue.
– In fact, you could also send me a full backup of your Microthemer settings. See Manage > Export > Download icon. You can send it to: support at themeover dot com. Thanks, and apologies for the trouble you’ve encountered.
Sebastian
I did a bit more digging and discovered that WP 5.6 includes a new jQuery UI library.
WP 5.5 used jQueryUI version 1.11.4
And now WP 5.6 uses jQueryUI version 1.12.1
I’ve resorted to loading version 1.11.4 while I figure out how to fix the compatibility issues.
I hope this info helps someone else. I didn’t come across any discussion of jQuery UI when reading about the jQuery changes in WP 5.6.
