Hi Mark, thanks for responding. Just to be clear, I can log in with username and password. I can’t log in with WordPress.com even though I have it connected with the website. The error message I’m seeing is when I try to login with wordPress.com.

In reply to: [Pen] Buy theme@romi74 Like you, I found using a frontend cache like WP Super Cache didn’t make a noticeable difference to site speed when using the Pen theme. What gave me a marked improvement (qualitatively, I felt the site speed increase by at least 50%), was using a backend cache like Redis.

@wfadam Your welcome. Btw, the posts are temporary. I’ll leave them as is for a couple of days, but I’d appreciate it if your team can take the results off if required, or I can move it to a less transient location if preferred. Let me know what you would like me to do.

@wfadam I wasn’t expecting such a rapid response!
You’ll notice from the image that what I see is a failed login rather than a block when the user is
[login]
.Hi @wfadam, and thanks for responding. I do actually have both admin and [login] as usernames to immediately block the IP of.
admin
is effectively blocked, but[login]
is not. Note that this is a top domain of the formmydomain.com
.I have second WP site in a subdomain of this top domain so of the form
sub.domain.com
. Usernames I block the IP addresses of here areadmin
andsub
. Both are effectively blocked. It seems
[login]
replacessub
for a top domain, but blocking doesn’t appear to be effective in this case.Forum: Themes and Templates
In reply to: [Pen] Missing Continue Reading button@htmlpie The mystery has been solved. This had me stumped until now. It turns out that if a post has many images and only a little text, then if there is not enough text to fill the synopsis view, the

button is not displayed.I haven’t decided whether this is a bug or a feature. Anyway, in hindsight, the explanation for the behaviour is pretty obvious. Still, until now, my suspicion was wither there was some weird Pen sitting corruption or I had been hacked! So pleased it wasn’t either of these.

In reply to: [Jetpack - WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth] Blog token is missingBoth xmlrpc and ctype php extensions are not included in the recommended server environment described in the WordPress hosting handbook Server Environment.
Is this an oversight for the WordPress hosting handbook, or are these dependencies of Jetpack that need to be articulated somewhere?

In reply to: [UpdraftPlus: WP Backup & Migration Plugin] Unexpected responseHi David,
That was the clue I needed. I’m self-hosting and no, I haven’t removed a function. The issue is that the WordPress hosting handbook Make WordPress Hosting does not specify the sessions php extension for the recommended server environment.Once I did a
pkg install php74-session
and then a restart of PHP-FPM viaservice php-fpm restart
on FreeBSD, I was then able to continue with the manual backup. Problem solved! Is this an oversight for the WordPress hosting handbook, or is it a dependency of UpdraftPlus that needs to be articulated somewhere?
