I’ve checked all the settings and the Nieuws posts are created by the ‘WP News and Scrolling Widgets’ plugin, whereas on this page: https://manualmaster.com/verhalen-uit-de-praktijk/page/2/ the posts are added with the WPBakery element ‘Blog’.

I noticed I can get the right canonical URL by setting this page as the Posts Page in the reading settings of the website. However I don’t want to do it, because it ruins the layout of the posts that our client requested.

Should I use custom filters as described here: https://yoast.com/help/canonical-urls-in-wordpress-seo/ to manually set the appropriate canonicals for paginated content?

The problem is the same in the Twenty Twenty theme.

Thanks for your quick response. I’ve reset the search form but unfortunately it didn’t help.
