Just to add, I can see that adding your filter to Shopp SEO Glue could be useful; I’m just umming and ahhing over whether that is starting to add complexity to a plugin (Shopp SEO Glue) that is intended to be as simple and clean as possible; I really do believe the best solution is for there to be no Shopp SEO Glue at all and instead for WordPress SEO to integrate right off the bat.

OK, I see what you mean now – however, it isn’t really anything to do with Shopp SEO Glue or even WordPress SEO.

Assume for a second you aren’t using my plugin or WordPress SEO: if you provide a description in the category editor then that is what Shopp uses it for, at least by default. So you’ve got two choices:

• Do what you are doing now and filter it out – then you can use the category description as part of the visible output on the category page
• Or, simply delete the description – then that additional meta tag will not be generated by Shopp

Hi Bill, just to confirm – are you referring to the two descriptions generated by Yoast (see https://pastebin.com/Qzj9QUff for an example – the description appears twice here but I believe that is intentional) or something quite different – if it is something different, where is this second description appearing … perhaps you could share the source via Pastebin or Gist?

And did you try disabling that one?

Can you provide a URL so we can see the problem? Are you running any other plugins that might be impacting (ie, try disabling them)?

What theme are you using? Does the same problem happen if you switch to Twenty Eleven (briefly)?

That’s a shame. Do you mean that you were unable to remove the “Updated” field using Jonah’s instructions? If you need further guidance on that you might want to look at our tutorial on template overrides, it certainly should work.
