    Thanks for replying Steve.

So, it is not me. ?? What can I do? Obviously, I am not using a plugin. The table is created with TinyMCD Advanced, so I can add captions and header rows. Add a caption stating that Amazon prices are subject to change?

    Hi Jeremy,

    Thanks for replying.

The bulk of my problem is the speed that my pages upload on a mobile or desktop. What is a reasonable timeframe? For me, it only takes about 2 seconds and I’m not using a ton of images. What’s reasonable?

Because I’m uncertain, I installed WP Smush to take care of my images. I’ll keep your suggestion of letting GIMP handle the scaling of my images. What size should my images be, when they’re in a blog article? I’d do a Google Search for 300 x 300 images or 200 x 200 images and I’d use these.

Yes, I am probably using an old rule of thumb.

This is just a friendly and hopefully welcomed update. I have taken a look at Uber Menu and I decided to pursue it. I’ve found a free alternative called “Max Mega Menu” plugin and it works nicely.

It’s not as fancy as Uber; however, it is a major help with customizing the menu. As for categories, it’s a personal decision. I simply went from a vague idea of what to write and I soon wrote on a variety of topics with a common theme. Now, it is time to clean up.

The menu is hopefully a step in the right direction and my visitors can actually find something interesting to read.

I liked what I saw on the UberMenu demo site. ) I’ll just go for the Flyout menu; it is all that I need. It looked nice on my tablet and laptop.

My apologies about the dupes. I can’t delete my old topics and Stephen was trying to help by cleaning up. I just read the rest of your comment and I agree. It’s time for me to take a deep breath

Define a good navigation? Right now, my menu made up of categories and subcategories. This method works on a desktop; if you don’t click on the top level menu. If I choose the top menu item then I get everything and no clue of what article belongs in what category.

It’s worse if the user chooses toread a chapter of my book. Is Chapter 1 from the first book or the 2nd one? I won’t go into the details of a dropdown menu on a tablet.

I’d like to get a responsive menu that will drop down and show the various categories of blog posts. Depending on what is chosen; the visitor will get something showing what is contained in that category.

This should work for two top menu item. The Book is a bit tricky. However, I am reconsidering the idea of breaking one chapter into smaller chunks. Oh well.

What is a good plugin for doing the above?

@stephenconttontail As this is the original thread, I’ll post the updated in here. My apologies for the dupe thread.

UPDATED The following is an updated version of my original question. For me, it seems unclear and I was trying to get input. Now, it is becoming a case of problem solving; hence the world “HELP”.

I am currently using a category based navigation system for my blog site: Inspiration Point I spent a lot of hours trying to clean up and make it easier for visitors to find articles related to different categories.

I am using a child of the Masonry Brick theme. By default, it displays the content of a category in a brick layout and no sidebar. However, it won’t display the subcategories. You can only get at it via the dropdown menu.

I do have the “Post In Page” plugin. Plus, I have the additional problem of the category displaying the posts out of an ordered sequence in the “Book” category. Take a look and you’ll see.

Any ideas of how I can fix things up?

    Hi @catacaustic,

Problem solved. It helps to go to bed and wake up with fresh eyes. ?? I got rid of the @import command. I commented out the custom codes in Customizer and tried again. This time, I refreshed my browser.

Now, it’s time to work on the menu navigation. I do have a problem but I’ll create a different thread.

Right now, I am using a workaround. Simply put, I placed all the CSS codes into the “Additional CSS Code” section on the Customizer. So, the theme is working. Otherwise, there would be no indication of change.

The problem begins with .site-title-box and down. When I place these codes in the “Additional CSS” section; I’d get the usual colors indicating the code is working. In the Editor, there are no such visual clues. If I remove the codes from “Additional CSS” then I get none of the changes indicated by the CSS codes.

It’s been a couple of days, since posting this message. Is something needed? I did provide a link to my site via the hyperlink. I’d like to get this plugin set up so I can add guest writers to my site.

According to sitecheck, my site has a clean bill of health. I’m not sure of what happened. No harm was done and it prompted a needed change of password.

    No. I didn’t. Thank you.

So, I have to adjust this photo to have a w:h ratio of 2:23. I’ll play with it. I’m also eliciting feedback on others. The same principle will apply.
