In reply to: [Vimeography: Vimeo Video Gallery WordPress Plugin] Black bars in BugsauceDave,
Thanks much for the reply. While I considered the CSS, I missed that the Gallery Edit preview doesn’t reference the CSS from the site template. Knowing this now, it’ll be an easy check to see if the template style is causing an issue in the future.
I removed the template author’s !important declaration for the definition to give the template style a “normal” weight and it works fine now.
Thanks again!
Ok, about half the time the job still errors … but, good news is that it hasn’t errored more than once, so it completes. I’m still guessing that you’re working around an issue at Dropbox (by changing the upload window size or allowing more time or something) rather than there being an issue with BackWPUp itself.
Thanks again for the time you spend on this plugin, Daniel!
Wow, good news…the development version completed with zero errors. It also completed much faster than the last few release versions. Here is the log (I noticed that the log still IDs itself as 2.1.17 … but I did overwrite the entire directory with the development version available here: https://backwpup.com/download/
So, thanks Daniel. I’ll let it run a few nights and then let you know if it continues error free.

2013/01/25 23:40.17: Job done in 123 sec.For 3 nights in a row now, the upload has worked on the 2.1.17 version. Each log has a single error for inactivity and then the upload completes.
I’ve come to expect the dashboard to show 1 error now. ?? Although, since the transfer did complete, I wish the error was not red.
I can try the development version if you want to see the result. I’m inclined to think that the problem is with Dropbox given I haven’t changed anything and it started erroring less.
I don’t know what the error code returned is…the entire log is below in case that helps. In the week that I’ve been running BackWPUp, it has completed the upload once. All other nights, it has failed after 3 errors like the below. Of course, the files are out there on my server every night (so I just SFTP them down for now).
Thanks for looking into it, Daniel!

In any event, looks like a tough one, Daniel — but thanks for putting in the time!

In reply to: [Arconix FAQ] Empty containers that can't be openedResolved thanks to John (author of this plugin) and the author of the WPLook BlogoLife PRO theme. The theme v1.1.1 released 11/26/2012 must be updated in the following way:
Edit /function/fe/headerdata.php and change this line:
wp_register_script('jquery', ("https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1/jquery.min.js"), false, '');
with:
wp_register_script('jquery', ("https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.7.2/jquery.min.js"), false, '');
Please note that this is a modification to the theme. The plugin is fine — but I do appreciate John’s help in pointing me in the right direction!
Posted the fix here (even though it’s the theme) in case someone else has the same issue.
Thanks again. It’s working perfectly at: https://yonginusa.ballio.com/faq/
I modified the shortcodes.php to use h5 instead of h2 for the questions. You may also define styles in the q-a-plus.css file. For example, I turned off the underline and indented the questions to make them stand out more from the category title with:
.qa-faq-anchor { text-decoration: none; margin-left: 20px; } .qa-faq-answer { margin-left: 20px; }
Now, off to figure out how to hide the number next to the category in the shortcode, before I edit that in php too! ??
Same issue on BackWPup 2.1.17 on WP 3.5, Linux host. If I split DB and File as you suggest (using tar .gz) the DB uploads fine. File still fails after 3 errors for “inactivity” (same error as above).
DB is small … <1MB after compress.
Files are 60MB almost exactly.

In reply to: Slow Page loading, is it WP or my hosting?Sorry for replying to the thread but wanted to say thanks for the link to convert.
I’m on a Windows plan and am hosting WP at https://yonginusa.ballio.com. I was going to host a .NET app too — but, I’ll actually do that elsewhere if it means my WP would be more stable.
The conversion is using the “full” Linux monthly price of $13.49 (I have Ultimate, 2 years). Hopefully, I’m not changed anything for the conversion.

In reply to: [Arconix FAQ] Empty containers that can't be openedThank you for making it!
Good news is, the conflict isn’t a plugin I’m using. Bad news is, it comes from a theme. WPLOOK’s BlogoLife Pro. Interestingly, BlogoLife (non Pro) doesn’t have the issue…only the premium version.
I’ll take a look at the theme and see if I can figure it out. Appreciate the pointer to what’s going on with my site!

In reply to: wordpress slow on godaddySame exact experience on my own site at https://yonginusa.ballio.com
Have been a Go Daddy customer for awhile, but a new hosting customer since 1/9/13. The past few days I’ve seen terrible performance of the site with only 12 pages, 2 posts and 0 comments in it. By terrible, I mean 20sec+ response times to completely failed responses when testing with tools that measure from multiple sites.
The GoDaddy response to my support incident was literally, “I have reviewed your hosting account and ran some testing and can verify that there is a high usage rate occurring on your hosting server at this time. This occasionally happens in a shared hosting environment due to the amount of users and traffic on it…” I read this as, “too bad…expect this often.”
Rene LeBlanc, Manager of Critical Facilities assured me in his video that my site would be “Always Up. Always Fast,” right there on the hosting options page. Rene…what’s up?

In reply to: my website is downGoDaddy “had” an outage according to their 3PM update. Now, it’s been edited to say they’re still working on it.
Anyway, I’m having the same issues as the OP with my WordPress site. There are likely read errors even within their network as WordPress is disabling its own plugins with an “invalid header” error (even tho they’ve been installed and running)!
If I reactivate, they’ll run anywhere from a couple of hours to only a few seconds before they are deactivated again.
My site is: https://yonginusa.ballio.com
Response times from around the US range from 6s to 20s for a page load. Several attempts failed completely. Thankfully, it’s not a production site — although I’d planned on using it as one. I’ll look for a new host, I think. Can’t afford the issues!
