Not sure if I’m being annoying here but I’ve solved this myself….

For anyone who’s interested, in theme-frontpage.php there’s this which makes the slider image a link:
“><img src=”<?php echo $image[0]; ?>” alt=”” title=”#caption<?php echo $i;?>” />

So I took out the link bit to leave this:
<img src=”<?php echo $image[0]; ?>” alt=”” title=”#caption<?php echo $i;?>” />

So I’ve changed the slider to show 8 posts from a category. Trouble is the images in the slider now link to the post – I don’t want them to link to the post as there’s no post really, they just exist for the homepage slider.

Scrap that – I believe it’s a theme issue (Karma) and I’ve sort of solved it by removing every mention of comments from every page template. I don’t know what was causing it, but it doesn’t have a chance to happen any more.

Thanks Marcus, but what do I change the value to? At the moment it’s ’20’ – not sure I understand how having a value of ’20’ results in the ‘Spaces’ drop-down displaying 1,2,3,4,5,6 etc. And therefore I don’t understand what to put to get it to display 10,20,30,40,50,60 etc.
(I’ve tried changing it to various numbers and didn’t see any difference).

So I’ve located the file but not being conversant in PHP, I don’t know what to put to make the spaces drop-down display 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 etc instead of 1,2,3,4,5,6 etc.
(I’ve Googled this btw and couldn’t find the answer).

I can’t risk updating the version – I’ve had some horrible experiences in the past where I upgraded and totally broke my client’s website :-/ I’ve got it working exactly how they need it and they’re taking lots of bookings so 5.1.7 is where it’s going to have to stay.

I’ve been using a workaround making single recurring events (the date fields work for these). Not ideal but it works.

Is there another way to enter dates on single events other than via the date picker in the ‘When’ panel? I wouldn’t mind the date picker being unavailable if there was another way – directly in the database for example.

So…
My dev site is WP 3.4.1 with EM 5.1.6
My live site is WP 3.4.1 with EM 5.1.7.

Thanks for your help on this. I’d read all the other posts and had hoped it was a plugin or theme but having tried deactivating everything and getting nowhere was puzzled. And the fact that it’s OK on the dev with the same theme and plugins makes it especially confusing!

I know it works – it used to until the other day. It also works on the development version of this website which has the same theme and the same plugins. That’s why I’m having trouble getting to the bottom of why it doesn’t work any more.

I’ll carry on fiddling with stuff to see if any of it resolves this.

I switched to Twenty Eleven – this didn’t resolve the issue.
I deactivated the plugins – this didn’t resolve the issue.

Whilst testing these I noticed that my WP admin left-hand navigation mouse-over sub-nav works for all the sections (hover over ‘Plugins’ – ‘Installed Plugins’ ‘Add New’ etc pop out) except when I’m in the ‘Events’ section when hovering doesn’t pop out the sub-nav anywhere in the admin.

Yes, I modified booking-fields.php

Having a similar issue – how did you resolve this?
