Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Visual Editor Button Vanished after 3.8 UpgradeMy problem is not in the browser it is in the UPDATE, everything was fine before then.
The visual editor is just not there at all. Editing in the text mode works fine, but my endusers cannot do that, they NEED the visual editor.
DO I have to revert to the old backup to regain this functionality?

In reply to: Automatic Update To 3.4.2I have never been able to get the auto-update feature to work and I host my on OSX server. Why isn’t this software capable of finding a simple path to the WP-Content folder, which it says it cant find. The error always is “cannot find wp-content folder” or some such tripe. Why isn’t this fixed yet?

In reply to: brand new install, error 403 Access ForbiddenServer is flaky, needs to have OSX upgraded. Making the folder Everyone Read/Write should allow WordPress access. The weirdest thing is that I can access all of the Site Administrator by accessing wp-admin/edit.php, until I try to access the site itself or Preview pages. The files are not locked, nor the directories. Still, should not be getting this error, permissions are wide open. I’ve been running previous versions of WordPress on this same server (my own) for years without problems. This one has me baffled.

In reply to: brand new install, error 403 Access ForbiddenNo, got the Access Forbidden directly after the Install successful page. When trying to access the main page.

In reply to: brand new install, error 403 Access ForbiddenAlso when trying to post, clicking on image our media button nothing happens. Cannot add images. Tried Safari and Firefox, neither works. I even set up a blog on WordPress. And the media button doesn’t work from my Mac.

In reply to: brand new install, error 403 Access ForbiddenBack to what? Read only? Then for sure it won’t work.

In reply to: brand new install, error 403 Access ForbiddenNo themes no plug-ins did a straight manual install. Doesn’t make any sense. All directories in the WordPress folders are completely open unlocked with permissions set to everyone. When you try to oPen the ADMIN PAGE, it’s blank. I can load edit.php and navigate within the administrator but if I go visit site, I get “Access Forbidden” as if the directory is locked.
tried changing the theme, but it’s the same. Tried an older version of WordPress and it’s the same thing. Sure it’s something simple but I don’t see why this is happening if it’s a permissions issue.

In reply to: customising how new user email sentOtto – we are running our own servers and MySql on OSX 10.3.9. I access the SQL server with Navicat which allows me to administer tables and databases. I’ve tried setting the mail server address by name and by IP address and there is no differnece. Whether or not PHP.INI is afftected by this app, I can’t say. Ijust know the process is NOT working to send the original email password out.

In reply to: customising how new user email sentI have the same problem – never get the password from email when users register.. I don’t see this PHP.INI file to edit that “mechdave” is referring too. Nor do I know enough about PHP to figure out where to look. Test blog is here https://www.rabbimichaelrobinson.com/blog/ . It comes up in a frame window, but I tested it both ways and it doesn’t seem to make a difference. https://www.rabbimichaelrobinson.com
