i’d say it does. i.e., i setup a sports group with sub-groups below it. now if anyone goes to the main group, sports, all activity from each group shows on the main activity page! cool. ??

by chance, since i’m somewhat new to wp and all, do u have favorites list of bp plugins? if not, that’s fine.

@frank – is that question for me, frank?

gotcha. sorry, i was running on empty from working all night trying to figure something else out, that i maybe didn’t have enough brain cells working to fully understand the plugin. ??

    just tested it. it works!

    thank you

@ david dean – no, i wasn’t offended at all. it sounded like u were talking out loud, sorta what i do when i have several thoughts going on, so i didn’t think anything of it. but if u want apologize, i’ll accept it. j/k! ??

and that sounds pretty good about contacting u @ ur site and seeing if we can maybe work something out w/ ur plugin. again, i first need to get the site going, if it works out, you’ll be on my list of people to contact. plus, i wouldn’t mind discussing more about nginx, extending wp network to multiple networks, and a few other things since glancing at ur site, those r the things i already had on my timeline to-do list!

    hopefully we’ll talk soon

@ david dean – thanks for taking the time to respond to my inquiry about your plugin. i understand completely everything you just mentioned, i knew it would require some added programming, but just wasn’t sure if it was a doable thing or not. and like i mentioned previously, my idea is for topics to go to the main blog’s forums only, not several, so it’s not some crazy and wild idea i had there.

i’m not sure how this project of mine is going to work or not. if the project does work out, which i hope it does, by chance, r u for hire to make something like this possible? there would be no better person than the original author of the plugin to continue his creativity and make it happen, right? ?? just curious, that’s all. because i really think ur plugin was a brillant idea.

    thanks again

got the plugin modified. not an easy task, trust me, but it works great for regular users to easily jump site-to-site.

and flynn, thanks for offering the plugin to the community.

discovered my problem after too many days and too many hours to count, it came down to 1 single plugin: shortcode exec php

since i had about 100 plugins in play, finding out which one was the culprit, well, let’s just say it was a pita!

so if anyone finds an issue like this, and like david mentioned enough time has passed to allow the ‘update_network_counts’ cron to run, use your server logs as partial reference as to what the error is (doesn’t always help, but at least guides u as to whether the problem is solved or not) and start enabling plugins in groups to somewhat narrow it down, then you’ll have to start playing with each one of that problem group until u find the right one.

in my case, i had to start w a fresh wp install about 15+ times since this plugin was not only messing with the dashboard site results, but it also crashing the site in a non-consistent way, and was breaking the blog site settings page permalinks that it was redirecting me to the home page with a missing page error. it was crazy!!! ;(

but let’s just say i probably could’ve had this mu site completed with the time i’ve spent w/ trying to figure this dang thing out!

but i’m happy again…and happy to say this thread is solved! ??

discovered my issue was with a plugin. since u didn’t reply back, i hope u figure out your problem.

    hi david,

u r correct, i wasn’t sure if there was a hidden cache or not.

now what’s strange, didn’t see this before, i have a few errors via the server c-panel log…

[Tue May 14 20:40:21 2013] [error] [client 00.00.000.00] File does not exist: /home/hidden/public_html/wp-admin/network/div, referer: https://hidden.com/wp-admin/network/index.php

** i removed my ip address and site name from above **

    and also errors for..
    /wp-admin/network/site-new.php
    /wp-admin/network/sites
    /wp-admin/metwork/plugins
    /wp-admin/network/

…all occurring when making any modification in the network admin directory.

and i just tested to make a change to the site settings page, only to taken to Darn it.. Nothing found

i verified the directory, even backed it up and reinstalled it, with the same errors showing up when testing.

and i just replied to another thread, not realizing the error messages i have seem to be the main culprit with my issue.

now what does it mean and how to resolve? i’ve verified both .htaccess and wp-config.php, nothing seems strange to me.

by chance, did u find a solution?

i’m experiencing the same situation, thought by reading that the wp cache didn’t update (don’t have 3rd party cache installed yet), but even on a clean install w/ no plugins and trying to delete or add sites gives me the same results. i’ve got full access to the sites, they show under the network sites list, editing, etc, just not showing correct # on the dashboard. strange.

    mu w/ wp 3.5.1
    apache 2.2.24
    php 5.3.24
    mysql 5.1.68-cll
    x86 64
    linux

ended up modifying an existing script, worked just fine.

    solved

if u can help, can i buy u a few beers via paypal? i was going to offer that to u if u were able to figure it out for me, without saying anything. if not, that’s fine, i’ll find a solution.

@interglobalmedia – if u remember, please post back on how achievements works out for you. paul is pretty active w/ the plugin, so issues like with cubepoints probably won’t happen at all. if not, i wish u luck and i’ll probably see u over at the threads in the next few weeks or so.

correct, for logged in non-admins only. the idea i have is to use that as a blog directory for non-admins because i’ve burnt the midnight oil trying to come up with another solution other than cramming every single menu from all the blogs into the main blog, and then using the global nav plugin to broadcast. there’s just way too many menu items when u consider adding a link for each blog, each blog’s own pages, posts, etc. heck, i was getting confused!! lol then i knew i needed to move on.

and as i mentioned earlier, i tested the yd bloglist plugin with putting it in the template, works fine in chrome and firefox, but ie 8 (and below, not sure about 9) blew the menu to pieces and couldn’t find a simple solution, not to mention couldn’t figure out adding a scroll to it…again, possibly issue with ie browsers.

so i actually think this may be an ideal solution for now. i also have the ‘custom admin bar’ plugin which broadcasts w/ the toolbar across the network and that gives me another simple navigation in front of this menu.
