If you are going to be doing a lot of photos, you might consider installing Gallery (which is easy to install), and then the WP G2 Gallery plugin. It makes posting and tracking photos easy, it resizes and thumbnails them to meet your needs.

The G2 Plugin does work great. This thread prompted me to set it up (Mac.Genealogy.org), and one thing I learned, and read in several places, is that you really need to pay attention to the URL Rewrites (if your storing everything outside of the wp directory)
