In reply to: Old Backup files to new blog?AWESOME!! I’m all up and running now… but I followed another post from someone else.
By doing a command in SQL and doing a search and replace of the old to new domains. it worked!! Also doing another command to update all posts with the new domain as well.
Just gonna leave it at that for now. Atleast it’s up and running and I can pass this on to the person who is in need of some help!! ??
Cheers!!

In reply to: Old Backup files to new blog?All the links in the database point to my old domain, the theme is also not there, it’s just a text file.
How do I fix all that?
OMG! This is just turning my head into mush!

In reply to: Old Backup files to new blog?Ok, that’s done….. and I was able to launch wordpress through my site however, I need the old posts to show up…. the .sql file from the old blog with all my posts on it. All the old wordpress files and folders are uploaded already. The config file is changed. But it’s all showing as if the blog is brand new.

In reply to: Old Backup files to new blog?My config file on my wordpress file is OLD…. I changed it to what I set up in Godaddy.
The config file used to say this…
<?php
// ** MySQL settings ** //
define(‘DB_NAME’, ‘deestrav_blog’); // The name of the database
define(‘DB_USER’, ‘deestrav_dee’); // Your MySQL username
define(‘DB_PASSWORD’, ‘hidden’); // …and password
define(‘DB_HOST’, ‘localhost’); // 99% chance you won’t need to change this value
define(‘DB_CHARSET’, ‘utf8’);
define(‘DB_COLLATE’, ”);Forum: Fixing WordPress

In reply to: Old Backup files to new blog?I went in and created a database on my hosting account. But it’s different to what the wp-config file looks for. I’m through GoDaddy.
My current config file asks for
db name (name_blog)
db username (name_username)
db password (password)whereas my godaddy has the name and usename as one
db name and username (deestravels)
db password (password)I changed the config file to match the godaddy one but it’s still not able to establish a connection.

In reply to: Old Backup files to new blog?Ok……
Files are uploaded to the domain.
I just need to point my link to my current wordpress folder and when I do I get
Error establishing database connection
What does this mean?
Editing again to add: That I can log into my wordpress.com account and I can see…
Flight Jitters and
Dees Travel JournalFlight Jitters is the blog I started out as and then changed it to the latter which points to a domain. Is there any way to change that blog so it doesn’t point to a domain but will can bring me to the wordpress dashboard?

In reply to: Old Backup files to new blog?I don’t have a local install.
All I really have is a domain name with no files in it. It’s empty.
And the backed up wordpress folder.I can upload the old WordPress folder to it and then attempt to update it? This was my plan. Just need to know if it’ll work or not?
