In reply to: Missing “Add New Plugin” button in wordpress menuFixed it. in wp-config, this line:
define('DISALLOW_FILE_MODS',true);
changed true to false.
Such a simple fix, and the solution is almost never the BS about theme and plugin conflicts. Never once has a theme/plugin conflict been my issue in 12+ years of using wordpress. It’s always something like this. Hope this helps someone else.

In reply to: Missing “Add New Plugin” button in wordpress menuI tried the advice in the article above but it did not resolve my problem. What else can I try?
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Missing “Add New Plugin” button in wordpress menuI followed the article, “tried another browser”’ lol… no that didn’t work. and went into chrome’s dev console with all plugins disabled. No errors for wordpress:
load-scripts.php?c=0&load%5Bchunk_0%5D=jquery-core,jquery-migrate,utils&ver=5.9.4:5 JQMIGRATE: Migrate is installed, version 3.3.2 DevTools failed to load source map: Could not load content for chrome-extension://gighmmpiobklfepjocnamgkkbiglidom/browser-polyfill.js.map: System error: net::ERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND
I have no idea what that chrome extension error message is, but I highly doubt it has anything to do with my issue.
Is there somewhere I can report a bug to wordpress? This isn’t going to be resolved by “trying another browser” and such.

Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Missing “Add New Plugin” button in wordpress menuI know that I can manually upgrade a plugin, but I’m concerned with the larger issue… Auto updates are gone… No wordpress updates, no theme updates, no plugin updates. The buttons are missing from the wordpress dashboard for both updating and for plugins. That’s a big deal! I need to fix the this, I can’t be manually checking for updates every day for plugins and for wordpress itself. I need to restore wordpress to normal functionality
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Missing “Add New Plugin” button in wordpress menuI disabled all plugins and still no “add plugins” button. Also, I can’t upgrade any plugin or my themes. There is no longer a button or option that allows me to do that. I downgraded wordpress to 6.0.1, then 5.9.4 and still it did not fix it. I really don’t want to switch themes right now, it’s unlikely to be the problem (downgrading should ahve fixed the problem if it was theme related, since it was recently working fine) and it might cause a bunch of issues with my widgets and some custom things going haywire. Anything else I can try?

In reply to: Sidebar showing up at bottom of pageI got it resolved, thanks for the help
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Sidebar showing up at bottom of pageI’d like to upgrade themes eventually, but right now I just need my site to work again. Changing themes will be a huge project that I am not interested in undertaking right now.
All I did was create new pages and update text on those pages, I don’t understand how the theme could break from text and basic html in the WordPress editor, all of the sudden. It’s gotta be something simple.

In reply to: Sidebar showing up at bottom of pageLooks like the last post there was 6 years ago, and that post went unanswered. It’s an old theme. Is there a plugin out there that can search for code errors like this?

In reply to: H3 Links showing up as white, not blueYou the man(or woman)! Thanks for the help ??
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: H3 Links showing up as white, not blueThanks wlpdrpat, that worked! Now, is there any way to make the links white when I hover over them, like the rest of the links on my site do? I’m just trying to make these links function like the rest of my site. For some reason, the H3 seems to be messing with the normal function/appearance of these links and I’m just trying to restore that normal look when using H3 and links at the same time.
I still have not figured out this issue. Any idea what could be causing this?

In reply to: Cannot save theme customizationsI know I screwed up, but how do I fix it?
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Cannot save theme customizationsThere may be theme issues but there’s definitely something going on with wordpress itself. I downgraded to 4.2.2 and my header problem was resolved. I went back up to the latest version of WP and the header is still there and working fine.
After downgrading, a screen popped up saying I needed to update the database. There were a few errors but nothing got held up. I didn’t get a chance to test this before, but now (and possibly was happening earlier too) I get a white screen with the following error message when I try to update an edited post:
WordPress database error: [Duplicate entry ‘0’ for key ‘PRIMARY’]
INSERT INTOwp_postmeta
(post_id
,meta_key
,meta_value
) VALUES (14963, ‘_encloseme’, ‘1’)Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/research/public_html/wp-includes/wp-db.php:1399) in /home/research/public_html/wp-admin/post.php on line 198
Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/research/public_html/wp-includes/wp-db.php:1399) in /home/research/public_html/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 1216 WordPress database error: [Duplicate entry '0' for key 'PRIMARY'] INSERT INTO <code>wp_usermeta</code> (<code>user_id</code>, <code>meta_key</code>, <code>meta_value</code>) VALUES (1, 'wp_yoast_notifications', 'a:1:{i:0;a:2:{s:7:\"message\";s:165:\"Don\'t miss your crawl errors: <a href=\"https://seekinglost.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=wpseo_search_console&tab=settings\">connect with Google Search Console here</a>.\";s:7:\"options\";a:8:{s:4:\"type\";s:7:\"warning\";s:2:\"id\";s:17:\"wpseo-dismiss-gsc\";s:5:\"nonce\";N;s:8:\"priority\";d:0.5;s:9:\"data_json\";a:0:{}s:13:\"dismissal_key\";N;s:12:\"capabilities\";s:20:\"wpseo_manage_options\";s:16:\"capability_check\";s:3:\"all\";}}}')
This whole mess started when I tried to change domain names. After moving all the old site files over to the new folder on my server, I had to chance all the references to OLDDOMAIN to NEWDOMAIN in the database. The way I accomplished this was by downloading a copy of my database, opening it in notepad++ and doing a search&replace for OLDDOMAIN with NEWDOMAIN. Re uploaded the database, and there were a couple of errors but I do not recall what. I’m sure I screwed something up.
Another problem I am having is there are no images showing up in my media library now. I used the Add From Server plugin but this did not fix the problem. I am also unable to add new images to the library, I get this error:
WordPress database error: [Duplicate entry '0' for key 'PRIMARY'] INSERT INTO <code>wp_usermeta</code> (<code>user_id</code>, <code>meta_key</code>, <code>meta_value</code>) VALUES (1, 'wp_yoast_notifications', 'a:1:{i:0;a:2:{s:7:\"message\";s:165:\"Don\'t miss your crawl errors: <a href=\"https://seekinglost.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=wpseo_search_console&tab=settings\">connect with Google Search Console here</a>.\";s:7:\"options\";a:8:{s:4:\"type\";s:7:\"warning\";s:2:\"id\";s:17:\"wpseo-dismiss-gsc\";s:5:\"nonce\";N;s:8:\"priority\";d:0.5;s:9:\"data_json\";a:0:{}s:13:\"dismissal_key\";N;s:12:\"capabilities\";s:20:\"wpseo_manage_options\";s:16:\"capability_check\";s:3:\"all\";}}}')
Another issue I am having is with GPX files I host on my site using WP GPX Maps plugin. This creates a shortcode and will display the GPX file in my post. Now the file does not pull up on my live page and shows this error:
Oops! Something went wrong. This page didn't load Google Maps correctly. See the JavaScript console for technical details.
I check the console, it mentions a missing API key, I replace it and go to save the settings and get this message on a blank white screen:

So there’s definitely something going on beyond the theme or a lone plugin. I think I screwed up something with my database. What a mess.

Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Cannot save theme customizationsI was in the process of doing that yesterday when you replied. Eventually got the site back up. Still having the problem with theme customizations not saving.
I’ve spent the last few hours looking at those error codes I posted. I’ve cleared up these codes:
Notice: add_custom_background is deprecated since version 3.4.0! Use add_theme_support( 'custom-background', $args ) instead. in /home/research/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 3839 Notice: add_custom_image_header is deprecated since version 3.4.0! Use add_theme_support( 'custom-header', $args ) instead. in /home/research/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 3839
And now the customizer remembers my header image and gives me no errors, and the header image shows up on the customizer preview window when i return to it, but it does not show up on the live site.
When I clicked over to the theme options section under appearance, a couple of error messages popped up…
Notice: trying to get property of a non object public_html/wp-includes/post.php line 5798 Notice: trying to get property of a non object public_html/wp-includes/post.php line 5878 Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at public_html/wp-includes/post.php:5798 in public_html/wp-admin/includes/misc.php on line 1114
Line 5798 of post.php:

Line 5878 of post.php:
$post_ids[] = $post->ID;
Line 1114 of misc.php:
header( sprintf( 'Referrer-Policy: %s', $policy ) );
Any ideas based on the above?
