We are sorry for not reaching out to you sooner, and you may have already moved on from our plugin, but we will do our utmost to provide a fix for the problems you mentionned.
We are currently reviewing the plugin and making sure to correct any bugs we find.
Concerning the sudden drop in quality and dark background in your images, however, it is due to the image compression function of the plugin, which create lower-quality JPG counterpart of your images to save bandwidth ; this format does not support transparency and will replace it with a dark background.

We have been made aware of our plugin shortcomings and are trying our best to improve it. We are sorry and understand that our plugin did not meet your expectations but we would like to stress out that this plugin is not reserved to LWS-hosted website and should work fine on any webhost, we have no interest in locking our plugins behind a paywall.
We are aware of the cause of the error you mentionned and will soon launch a patch for it, among other improvements.
