Today, you can exclude a category by selecting the category from the “Exclude Categories” list.

Settings -> XML Sitemap. Scroll down to the section titled “Excluded Items.”

To answer your question, “Can someone tamper with the plugin?”. The only way an individual can tamper with any plugin in WordPress if they have access to the website codebase.

In terms of your second question about the experience you’re having in Google Search Console after submitting your sitemap. Generally, the sitemap is just a backup/discovery mechanism of Google. Google ideally should be able to crawl pages directly. We’d recommend you look at the Index Coverage report and see which URLs are not indexed, and look at their publishing status too.

Lastly, we have released a few updates to our plugin. We recommend upgrading to the latest version.

That’s a great question. At this time, our plugin does not support Google news sitemap.

Would you be able to share a link to your sitemap and a screenshot and provide us with a list of all the pages that are not displaying correctly?

For hiding individual pages from the sitemap, navigate to Settings -> XML-Sitemap. Scroll down the settings page until you get to “Excluded Items.” In this section, you can exclude content by category or by ID.

Today, our default setting for sitemap submission is daily. The sitemap will auto-update and push to Google within a day.

To force a submission, select one of these two options, “Notify Search Engines about your sitemap or your main sitemap and all sub-sitemaps now.”, under the Results section.

First off, thank you for choosing our plugin for your sitemap needs.

We had a look at your website, and the reduction in URLs discovered is due to the revised content selected for the redesign. Our sitemap tool collects all the URLs live on our updated website — a typical experience when one decides to revisit their website design and structure.

Since the subdomain will essentially be a net new website, you will need to create a new sitemap. It’s not possible to link the two together, and it’s okay if they are separate. Based on your setup, it sounds like you did it correctly.
