Oh gosh, duh I should’ve checked if my code was valid. I did earlier and didn’t think to check again. (I’m not all here today).
ANYWAY. It looks like I had an encoding mix up which is why the validator was saying tags were missing/in the wrong places. I replaced all the angle brackets and it was magically fixed.
