I temporarily suspended my project requiring that plugin. However, I communicated with the author of the below photo album plugin, and he (very, very quickly, I should add) implemented an option to insert a watermark, which can be any image with any amount of transparency (set from within the plugin). So, the watermark can be a ribbon with text, which sort of worked for me.

The developer is working tirelessly on the plugin, pushing updates quite often. Give it a try, if you haven’t done so, already…

This might help for some users having the inaccessible site issue:

Having the “maintenance mode” ON, depending on the plugin you’re using, blocks external access, such as the one required by JetPack to connect through WordPress.com. Deactivating the maintenance plugin resolves the issue. Although, even if you deactivate the maintenance plugin you’re using, connect Jetpack through WordPress.com, then reactivate the maintenance plugin, JetPack might still have a problem accessing your site/subsite.

This might be quite obvious for some, but it may not be so for novice users.

Well… I think it works just fine, yes, but I’m still experiencing the same weird problem you’re experiencing. Everything seems to work fine, except the watermark is not there, even if I force reload the photo. However, when I check the photo later or from another device, it’s there! So, I guess WPPA works fine, and visitors can probably see it right after we apply the watermark. I’m not sure why I still cannot see it after force reloading the page/photo multiple times.

OpaJaap; I’m sending the Turkish localization files to you, as well. Because grammar is quite different in English and Turkish, the translations might look weird in PoEdit (blank strings, etc.), but I believe it suits better this way. Hope it helps. Yes, that box is already checked. IE is always a problem, so I don’t really care about that right now.

When I try to share an individual photo on Facebook, it looks like I’m sharing the whole album or even website; Facebook cannot grab the thumbnail of the individual photo for some reason, only the cover photo of the album. So, sharing functions correctly, but it doesn’t look right on FB. Of course, this is not an issue of WPPA+, I believe.

This is an old topic, but I’m still having trouble with addThis.

When viewing a photo in slideshow mode (slideshow not running), if I try to share that individual photo through addThis, the shared link takes me to the main album and not the photo I’d like to share. I saw that you were having issues with addThis, but all relevant topics are at least 6 months old.

I was wondering if there’s anything I should do for addThis to grab the updated URL to share…?

Excuse me as I did not read the WordPress localization guidelines. But please consider adding this to your “How to translate wppa+” guideline.

For anyone else having the same problem;

For some reason, the “save .mo file automatically” option in the settings menu of PoEdit was not ticked (on Mac). Enabling that option sorted the problem. When I saved the .po file, it automatically created the appropriate .mo file. Uploaded both into wp-photo-album-plus/langs folder on the server, and it works.

Since Turkish and English are grammatically “reversed”, it is quite difficult to localize this plugin into Turkish. I’ll try my best though and send you the files.

Additional Note:

When I saved the .po file, it did not automatically save an .mo file, as you mentioned on [https://wppa.opajaap.nl/wppa-tutorial/how-to-translate-wppa/]. I initially renamed both files changing “xx_YY” to “tr_TR”, and edited the .po file using PoEdit (Mac). Maybe the .mo file is the problem?
