So it seems the problem isn’t only with Macs. I had my roommate try it on a pc. Here is what he wrote:

“I tried a couple different methods, but I could not get the popup window to load properly. I typically run Adblock Plus and Ghostery which I thought might have interfered, but when I paused/turned off the extensions I still had the same result. Running incognito to not have cache and cookies did not seem to work either. I tried clearing cache and history and couldn’t get a result either. I’ve attached a screenshot of what I was looking at for an error screen.

I tried using other email addresses than my gmail account and had some different things happen. I went over to 10 minute mail and made a burner email and plugged that in, and the popup loaded a screen confirming I’m human. But after that screen, I went back to the same issue of the page not loading. I tried making a yahoo account and it also had the same issues as using gmail.

I tried fiddling with some security settings a bit, thinking it might be getting blocked, but relaxing security settings didn’t seem to help either.”

This might be too difficult to ask them to do. I might have to install an alternate subscription button for those the Specific Feeds button does not work for. Are there other WP blog subscription plugins compatible with Ultimate Social Media Plus that I could install to add a 2nd button? Awkward solution, I know, but the only workable solution I can think of…

Did clear cache and re-open. Same problem continues.

I cleared my cache and it is now working for me. Thank you.

However, it is still not working for my friend who owns the site.
He is using Safari.
I asked him to clear cookies and cache and also to check if he had an adblocker program installed. He does not. When he clicks the “Submit” button, a new window pops up. It is empty and only says “Specific Feeds” at the top.

A completely blank window pops up in both Chrome and Firefox. But the window is completely blank. Could this be a pop-ups issue?

Songdogtech, my apologies regarding pasting code. I’m a newbie and should have read more before posting, but I needed to get this desperate situation fixed.

I have switched to the default theme and the posts have all returned.

Am I to gather that the best course now is to begin anew from here and reconfigure the blog using whichever new theme I prefer and then add plugins as necessary?

Tank you, Sondogtech. I’m trying to edit the index page code of the them to solve th eproblem, but I’m not adept enough with php. There was a plugin (The_Excerpt_Reloaded) installed and I eliminated the function call to that in the code. Now the posts display, but only the title link, not the actual article text. I have edited the them index code so it now looks like:
