    @paulwpxp– I actually am using a child theme, based on the coller theme. I know it looks nothing like the original theme, but yes, I am a web designer and I have done a fair share of hacking to get what you see. CSS is no problem. As far as the dilemma, I think you’re right, I think I’ll have to do a static page and do all of my feeds that way, as much as I would prefer not to. Thanks for the plugin recommendation. That looks like just what I need.

    And yes, the website is a production page. I have to get it fully up and running before I overwrite the root directory, which is my old site, but thanks for the tip. And I totally agree.

    @juslooken–That actually could be doable, but not as customizable as I’d like. I want full control over the page. But it’s a brilliant idea. I could do clever CSS work to display the first child of the blog so differently you wouldn’t even recognize it as a post. But with as much customization as I’d need, I think it’s best to go with paul’s route.

    I discovered the problem. For anyone with a similar issue, I was missing the “template” reference to my parent them in my css file.

    My style.css file should have read:

    Theme Name: collerchild
    Theme URI: https://ashleywalters.net/wp
    Description: Template based off the coller wordpress theme
    Author: Ashley Walters
    Tags: minimal, flat design
    Version: 1.0
    Template: coller
    */

    Durr. The css trick should work just fine. And thanks. I was so busy sifting through php code I neglected to look at the source code of the completed document to see that it is in fact in list format. Such a WP newbie.

    Now, how can I reverse the order of the list?

    Nevermind. Did some css work that should fix it–even though it would still be nice to where the list is in the template files.

    I think you’re mistaken. I added an image and it’s still not showing up. What’s going on?

    EDIT: The background image is showing up but the images within the post are not. ??

    EDIT: I think I don’t have a permissions issue. I think it’s to do with the format of WP itself. I’ll have to do more research to see if I can implement the slider as the theme demo shows.

    So all of the themes I see online will come without any images? I thought I’d just need to change out the images but images would be there as placers.
