Turns out the count was accurate after all! I checked Google Analytics today to get an accurate count of yesterday’s visitors and it was almost 4000. For some reason the post I made that day attracted a lot of attention and the link got reposted on a few sites. I just wish I had that kind of audience every day!
I just checked again and in the last hour the count for that post has gone up to 3,532!
P.S. Sorry for the duplicate posts. I’m not sure how that happened.
They are definitely pages and not posts. I tried disabling and enabling the plugin, but that didn’t work. I also tried adding the custom field to my contact page and that didn’t work either. I followed the instructions below from your FAQ page:
How to disable the plugin on specific pages?
Edit the post for which you want to disable.
Click on Screen options on top (next to help tab) and click on Custom Fields. This will add extra option at the bottom of edit post titled Custom Fields.
Add a new custom field now.
name: disable_social_share
value: yes
Update the post and you are done. Here’s my contact page: https://www.canphoto.net/contact/
You can also see the share buttons on the pages for About, Sponsors and Business Forms.
Thanks.

In reply to: [Vimeo Short Code] Vimeo Short CodeI tried this plugin and it did absolutely nothing and no video loads. Just pasting the link to the video works better and requires no plugin.
I was able to figure out how to do this manually, so I’m very happy now! I use the the Genesis Framework to run my site and they use something called Simple Hooks. So I was able to place the short code at the bottom of the post and only have it show on the home page and not in the posts. Now I have the floating side bar in the posts and the bottom bar below posts on the home page.
Thanks. I wasn’t sure how or where the counts were stored.

In reply to: Running a social media contest? It looks like asking people to use a twitter hashtag is the easiest way to run a contest and track the entrants. Facebook also has a lot of restrictions about contests, so I might skip that.
What about picking a winner from comments on my blog? Is there anyway to export the contact info and comments from a WordPress post into a spreadsheet?

In reply to: [Redirection] [Plugin: Redirection] Changing permalinksI just figured it out. My first mistake was not checking “regex” when setting up the redirect. After I did that it started to work, but I still couldn’t figure out the variables. I found some help in the comments in the Redirect tutorial here:
https://austingulati.com/2009/01/using-redirection-plugin-wordpress/
I finally got it working correctly with this:
Source URL: /(\d*)/(\d*)/([A-Za-z0-9-]*)
Target URL: /$3

In reply to: [Redirection] [Plugin: Redirection] Changing permalinksI have the same question. I was reading the SEO article at the link below and the author suggests changing permalinks to /%postname%/. The author then says: “Once you’ve done that, you’ll want to install the Redirection plugin, and make sure that under Manage -> Redirection -> Options, making sure both URL Monitoring select boxes are set to “Modified posts”. Now you can change those permalinks to perfectly SEO’d permalinks without having to do anything else, or worry about the search engine consequences.”

I only see one select box for “URL Monitoring” under “Options”, and I have set this to “Modified posts”. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to be working and when I navigate to one of the old post urls I still get a 404 Page Not Found.
Any advice would be much appreciated?
Sorry, but I gave up on these plug-ins because I couldn’t get the bettons to line up properly. I found another one that puts the two buttons together nicely.
Here’s a link to my site so you can see the problem with the spacing: https://www.canphoto.net/
After I switched to the standard button at the bottom of the post, I noticed there was a lot space under the button. I just added your Simple Twitter Connect so I could also add a tweet button, and it is appearing quite far under the facebook button. I would like them to appear beside each other at the bottom of the post. Do you know how I can fix this?
When I view the source I noticed the inline style for the fb button says this: “width:450px; height:65px” But I don’t know how to fix it.
Thanks.
Thanks very much. I thought “standard” meant just the button, but I guess I should have tried the various options first.
Thanks for your reply. I was doing some research on this today and I saw some recommendations to create a sitemapindex.xml that references the separate sitemaps. I did that and then referenced the index in robots.txt. I don’t know if there is any advantage or disadvantage to doing it that way or not.
