Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: 4.5 Breaking Sites – Visual Editor Losing Text Mode and Add MediaSeems like twenty.. and my response was due to the fact that this same issue has been reported to WordPress on many, many threads since the update came out. Yet it was suggested to me to disable all plugins when it is known already that plugins are not the problem and is what I believe to be a canned response.
The problem seems to be related to a recent upgrade to VC that has been incorporated into this newest version of WordPress but not implemented into the hundreds of themes that bundle a VC into their theme.
It appears either WordPress jumped the gun and should have held back the release, or many theme developers were negligent in updating themes. Either way the user is the guinea pig and suffers the most.
I would expect more from WordPress, suggest responding by stating ‘known issues’ first instead of ‘disable all your plugins’.

In reply to: 4.5 Breaking Sites – Visual Editor Losing Text Mode and Add MediaThat ‘standard’ response is inappropriate since this is a known issue all over the forum. FYI as a 20yr WordPress user I am experienced at these kind of screw-ups. Have already disabled plugins and all other basic fixes.. my first response.
I would imagine your next boxed response to be ‘contact your theme developers’. That is done as well. Perhaps when you guys roll out an update that will create this kind of major problem users should be notified and problem noted under ‘known issues’.
My bad, I should have known never to upgrade as soon as update comes out.

In reply to: Visual Composer breaks in 4.5I am following this closely.. everywhere, and I have another post regarding the same issue.
I keep seeing the same response to contact your theme builder, I also read that this problem is also affecting the WordPress twenty eleven theme as well. If this is the case then why tell people to disable plugins, check with theme developer, or upgrade VC.. when in fact it is a WordPress upgrade issue?
Is WordPress going to do a fix or should I go through the trouble to roll back to old version of WordPress?

In reply to: [WP Restaurant Manager] Time PickerIt appears they make you wait the entire 7-10 days.. wow. Sales must be kicking…
WordPress sure has changed how they use to operate regarding the degree of support required in order to even list your free advertisement/plugin in the repository.
I guess the alure of taking someone else’s free open source code, making a few adjustments so you can call it your own and turning into money is too much work, cant be bothered with supporting all the test-it-for-free beta testers out there..
WordPress should say ‘free plugins that do not work with no real support but you can waste your time messing with them. Do not bother us with what problems you encounter’, basically just come-on advertising for the pro version that might, or might not actually work. What a racket….
I always check the forums prior to using a plugin just to judge the degree and quality of the support to see whether I even want to mess with it. I would guess not offering any kind of quality free support says alot…

In reply to: [Cloudflare] Need to register an account prior installing the plugin?According to www.remarpro.com:
Do I need to be a CloudFlare customer to install the WordPress Plugin?
While we would love for you to be a customer of CloudFlare so you get our speed and protection enhancements for your blog, our plugin was designed so that it could be used by any WordPress blog owner. You still receive the benefits of making sure your server database is optimized.

In reply to: [FeedWordPress] Is this plugin dead already? You would think that anyone who spends so much time on this topic would have taken the time to find the correct page for information. Next time try looking at the plugins site and not the WordPress forum.
This is a widely used plugin with tens of thousands of satisfied users who are experiencing no problems. That said, you must have a specific problem due to your specific setup of plugins, but you try to make it look as though it is a developer problem…
Try going to the developer page: https://feedwordpress.radgeek.com/

In reply to: [Plugin Organizer] Applying filter to ALL posts? Thanks for the quick reply. I am a lazy guy so I guess I will wait (over 9000 posts)rather than editing each one. Appreciate your support!
Let me ask a follow-up question. If I turn off a backend plugin on a frontend page, such as ‘All-In-One-SEO’ does this affect the plugins ability to do it’s job in any way?
I have several (many) backend plugins that have no affect on how any specific page looks but I am a little hesitant to turn off certain plugins that do server stuff. DB Management, Smush It, Google Sitemaps, etc.
Just wondering if turning off those plugins on the frontend (posts or pages) affect their ability to function properly?

In reply to: [Shortcode Menu] Horizontal DisplayYes I did, thank you for the follow-up! Better late than never. ??

In reply to: Allowing Visitors to reorder sidebar widgetsThis would/could have a value to certain sites allowing a visitor using a smartphone or other small monitor on any device to turn off the sidebars, or better promoted as ‘click to adjust view’ or ‘view content only’ or ‘turn off sidebar ad’s’. I can think of many sites that I would love to have this ability.
Probably a browser or device app for that..!

In reply to: [WP Edit] WP Edit and WordPress 3.9 (PLEASE READ)You deserve the appreciation. If other plugin developers understood how important support is when it comes to plugins the repository wouldn’t be the mess it is today. You really have no idea what you are getting or how it will actually function until you install it. My personal experience is that 90% of useful plugins will require some sort of tweaking, which can be really difficult without proper support.
I advise everyone to visit each plugins individual forum before using or even downloading any plugin. Finding a plugin with great support is the most important feature, much more important than the plugin itself.
Not enough developers get the praise they deserve. Wouldn’t it be great if you could sort the plugins by rated support?
Thanks again Josh, had to jump back in and read these added replies. Great plugin, even better support!

In reply to: [Link Library] Moderation Options – Approval – Rejection Response EmailHmmm, that was the problem all along.
May I suggest some documentation within the page to make sure this is understood (for people like me). A reminder on the moderation page would work great.
Thanks again for all your help. Great plugin with great support.

In reply to: [WP Edit] WP Edit and WordPress 3.9 (PLEASE READ)Thank you Josh for an explanation of the problem and I appreciate your hard work. This again shows the inherent problems associated with building on any framework that is constantly evolving and morphing. The downside to keeping open code secure…
Thanks again, great plugin…
Not sure why you guys would completely redo the interface and do away with the features that made your plugin unique, but I do know I am again looking for an editor plugin that works as yours once did. I can only imagine the number of others that are doing the same.
Why fix what ain’t broke?

In reply to: [List category posts] Shorter Link TextThanks for quick reply.
Yes, the displayed links. I would like to use three column structure so I need to control the length, limiting it by characters would be best with a … if possible.

In reply to: [List category posts] Shorter Link TextIs there another post related to this question? I hate to start another link. I believe devlin85 was asking this question.
What would the code be to limit each title link to display a set number of characters?
Thank you, great plugin…
