The backup file you are restoring are you sure it is from the correct site and contains only the plugins you want to restore? e.g if you connect multiple sites to Dropbox all their backups get stored in the same place on the free version and you may be restoring a backup from a different site.
The backup file should have the name of the site it came from in the file name.

In order to help resolve the issue I would need a backup log from one of the failed attempts so I can see what errors are there and what is causing them.
As for how to send them you can use a service like https://pastebin.com/ and then share the link here, or you could upload the log file to a remote storage service like Dropbox etc and share that link here.

The backup scheduale and the amount retained are different for everyone and would be based on how often the site changes and how much of a backup history you want to keep.
For example if your site changes often and has high amounts of data being added then you may want a more frequent backup schedule or if your site changes very little then you wont need to run backups as often.
For how many backups you retain this is down to how much you can store and how complete of a history you want/need for example if you retain two sets then you can restore your site to it’s state that it was in two days ago this may be perfectly fine for you, or if you want to retain more say four sets then it means you have a bigger window for recovery in the event something goes wrong.
The more frequent your backups the more you may want to retain.

In the UpdraftPlus settings, under the remote storage options there is a section “Include in files backup” here there is an option “Exclude these” where you can enter files to exclude from the backup set.
In order to help with this issue further please could you send us a copy of the latest backup log where this error occurs?
This can be found in the UpdraftPlus Existing Backups tab.
The contents will be too long to post here directly, but you can use an online service such as Pastebin, and post the link here.

can you confirm that the error message is still “400 Error: redirect_uri_mismatch” and can you also confirm is this is now resolved? as I see you have opened another support request about having issues uploading large files to Google Drive (which I will respond to there).

So I assume you followed the guide and correctly setup Google Drive with UpdraftPlus up to step 4.
The error you are getting is because the URL we show on the UpdraftPlus settings page above the input area you enter your client ID and secret doesn’t match the one you put in the Google Drive settings.
Please can you copy the URL shown in the UpdraftPlus settings page and put that in the authorised redirect url field in Google Drive
Which I think from what you posted above should be this
make sure there is no space before or after and that they match
the authorised javascript origin url will then be this
“https://www.learning-engineer.com”
That should fix your 400 Error: redirect_uri_mismatch

Yes you can do my suggested solution above with Google Drive same thing just you connect with Google Drive and download their client.
I see you have opened up another support request here:

Hi,
Have you correctly setup your Google Drive? and have you clicked the link to authorise your Google Drive account?
This link will either be at the top of the page or if not it will be in your UpdraftPlus settings under the Google Drive options.
If this doesn’t resolve your issue please can you attach your full backup log where this problem is so that we can track down the issue.

Hi,
The plugin itself does not backup to an external drive, it will backup locally to the server it is hosted on or if you connect UpdraftPlus to remote storage(recommended) then it will upload your backups to that service (e.g Dropbox).
As a solution you can connect UpdraftPlus to a remote service like Dropbox and then on your computer download the Dropbox client which will sync a folder on your computer (external drive) to your remote storage (where your backups will be stored)

Hi,
I was also experiencing this issue last night, I believe the issue is on Dropbox side and not yours or ours. It appears that this only started happening last night and this morning it is now working again as expected.
Could you try another backup to see if it is resolved for you also?
I will contact Dropbox support to see what went on.

I checked over the logs and there is nothing obvious as to what is going on.
If this problem happens again could you try and get a full backup log rather than a partial one.
