Interesting fact: It was enough to add your placeholder code to the functions.php. It was not necessary to add anything else to the Scriptcenter. So I removed

– maps.googleapis.com
– g1-gmaps.js

I found the problem: Unfortunately I did not comma-separated the scripts. Instead I had one script in every line.

is included in the Scriptcenter, but the map is still there.

The Plugin is called G1 GMaps…it came bundled with the theme. However I tried WP Google Map Plugin and had the same issue.

Adding the javascript you mentioned was the solution. This works without placeholder.

I am also facing fake signups in Mailpoet v2. I deleted all Mailpoet registration forms and also registration in comments is not possible but still get fake signups (they are not confirmed in Mailpoet). These signups are generating a lot of bounce mails.

I wonder how can people register without the form enabled?

This plugin is used by a lot of WordPress users. Not everybody is checking forums to ensure a basic level of security. Therefore it should be implemented into the plugin or a short notice should be included if the user enables this features. Nowadays features are not the only thing that counts. Security is getting more and more important.

reCaptcha is an “unofficial” solution. Not everybody is crawling through these forums.

Because Jetpack is one of the most used plugins, security is important, even if you consider that most of it is free.
