I tried deactivating all the plug-ins (just four fairly simple ones, really), and the problem was still there.
My two WP sites linked to my hosting account are both really small and very un-fancy.
I’m guessing this really is a matter for my host to resolve, as I’ve been looking for those php files for the last 20 minutes and getting nowhere!
Hi Esmi and thanks for your reply.
I’ve looked at the thread you linked to, and can’t find any of those php files in my Cpanel. I’ve sent an email to my host and asked them to see if they can fix it.
When you say “site specific” – might changing my theme help? Or is it a host-related problem? (Sorry for my lack of tech understanding.)

In reply to: How to Edit Stylesheet to Stop Automatic Double SpacingEsmi, the problem is gone now. I think I had to quit my browser and do a complete restart after the PhpMyAdmin move – but when I tested in in Twenty Eleven again, the double spacing problem was gone.
I switched back to the Crucial theme, and it’s behaving there as well.
Problem resolved!
Thank you so much for your expertise and patience.

In reply to: How to Edit Stylesheet to Stop Automatic Double SpacingProblem is still there with Twenty Eleven, and I went into PhpMyAdmin on my CPanel, entered a:0:{} on the Plug-Ins Row, went back into the site – and the problem is still there.
I think I’ve taken up enough of your time, Esmi. It looks like this problem doesn’t want to go away. ??

In reply to: How to Edit Stylesheet to Stop Automatic Double SpacingThe second post (Test 2) is with Ultimate TinyMCE deactivated. I also quit & cleared cache before I tried again. Problem is still there.
Yes, when I press Shift + Enter, then I get a single line. But I have a few other WP sites, and there’s no need to do this. Just as when I’m typing this reply, it assumes single-line spacing unless I press “Enter” twice.
There’s definitely a problem somewhere, but I have no idea how to locate/fix it.

Problem is still there, I’m afraid.

In reply to: How to Edit Stylesheet to Stop Automatic Double SpacingVisual. I added a plug-in – Ultimate TinyMCE – as my daughter doesn’t know any HTML code.

In reply to: How to Edit Stylesheet to Stop Automatic Double SpacingHi Esmi and thanks for your reply.
Here is a test post that shows what’s going on…

I’ve edited font colours on the stylesheet, but don’t know enough about CSS code to resolve this problem on my own.
Thanks!

If I were to change to a different Facebook Like plug-in, would I lose all my existing ‘likes’?
