That did the trick! Thanks very much for your help, Rob.

Thanks, Rob. I just pasted the code snippet into the Add CSS Styles box and saved the changes. That’s a lot better, but still not quite there. Now the multi-color word Google has a white background, which makes it show up. The words Powered By and Translate are still the default colors.
Powered By is a dull orange, perhaps complementary to the blue. Translate is black. Is there a way to get those to a light color, or also give them a white background?

I don’t entirely understand your code snippet, but I see you specified #d1dae5 (a light gray-blue)in two places, presumably for the text words. However, I don’t see that, so looks like the theme or something else is overriding your style code somehow.

Yes, of course I signed in. But see my original post—once signed in, my dashboard does NOT display such a number. While signed in, I went to my profile page, and saw no number. And so on. Something is obviously amiss with my account, as apparently everyone else is seeing a number once signed in. That was my original assertion.

    But thanks for the number.

Actually, I solved my problem by ditching Akismet and using a plugin that doesn’t need an API Key. Simple is often better in the long run.

Mikey, would a key that I got for a different account work with the WordPress account I’ve already built? It surprises me that the key would transfer. I’ve already signed up on WordPress with the name I want to use for the site, and hate to give that up.

Otto42, I went to the page from your link. That’s just the regular sign in page to get into my blog. I use that every day, of course, but there is nothing that looks like an API Key there, just a place to enter my username ans password, a “remember me” checkbox, a log in button, and these two links: Get a free WordPress account | Lost your password?

I’m using Firefox on a Mac. Is it possible the key is not displaying? What would it look like–that is, should it be a number, word, or what?
