    Re-installing WordPress has completely fixed it! You are an absolute darling, thank you!

    Strange, I haven’t uploaded anything into the directories or changed anything in months, and this only happened a couple of weeks ago. Nobody else has any access.

    I first installed WordPress direct from my host (Bluehost)’s cpanel, so I don’t have a zip file. Is there an easy way to get a clean copy of the files for the wp-admin directory, or will I have to re-install WP? (Not keen on that option, I’ll be honest).

    thanks for your help

    Hi

    thanks for your help.

    Here is the last error from today under the wp-admin title:

    /home1/todayist/public_html/cuillinviewco/wp-admin/error_log:
    [16-Jun-2015 05:54:27 America/Denver] PHP Warning:  include(): Failed opening './wp-admin/includes/class-wp-admin-list-table.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/php/54/usr/lib64:/usr/php/54/usr/share/pear') in /home1/todayist/public_html/cuillinviewco/wp-admin/index.php on line 8
    [16-Jun-2015 05:54:27 America/Denver] PHP Fatal error:  require(): Failed opening required '/home1/todayist/public_html/cuillinviewco/wp-admin/wp-blog-header.php' (include_path='.:/usr/php/54/usr/lib64:/usr/php/54/usr/share/pear') in /home1/todayist/public_html/cuillinviewco/wp-admin/index.php on line 17

    Even I can see that this is telling me there are problems on line 8 and line 17 of the index.php. I think it is telling me to include

    .:/usr/php/54/usr/lib64:/usr/php/54/usr/share/pear

    on line 8 and line 17 of the index.php but I am no coder by any stretch of the imagination so have no idea if that’s right.

    Am I miles off?

    thanks again

    Hi

    Thanks for the response but unfortunately that didn’t work. I did as you suggest and pasted the above lines right at the end of the wp-config.php file and updated it. This did nothing to the blank dashboard.

    I also tried changing the define('WP_DEBUG', false); to true but again this did nothing.

    Further to Bharath Mandava’s comments at the top of this thread regarding the article he has written on creating a Google API.

    This article is a very helpful walk-through for a non-techie like me apart from one mysterious part – where he says to paste in ‘the url from the backup settings page’ into the google settings when creating a Client ID.

    I pasted in various urls and settings from the info on that page, all to no avail until eventually I wrote down the url he uses in the example (as it cannot be copied/pasted) and typed that in.

    It worked perfectly (after changing his website’s name for mine of course) and it was only afterwards that I realised he meant the ACTUAL ADDRESS of the settings page.

    Just thought I’d point this out in case anyone else is as stupid as me! Just waiting for my first backup now, thanks ??

    Oh my god, I’ve done it again – no sooner asked than resolved. Seems I just had to wait a minute for it to sort itself out.

    Thanks for an awesome theme ??

    Typical – I search for three hours for the answer to this and then find it five minutes after posting the question.

    For anyone else in the future who is frustrated by the same problem: the blocks are editable/can be switched on and off under:

    Appearance > Zenon theme options > Front page > Blocks.

    I knew it was there somewhere staring me in the face!

    Thanks for a great theme x

    Whoops I just realised I didn’t put backticks around the code in the title of this post so the pertinent parts were removed and now it doesn’t make any sense (there I go with the grammar obsession again….)!

    The post title is meant to be ‘Inserting <p> or <br> into home page biog?’
