AHA! I solved the problem. Turns out there was an incompatibility with the plugin WordPress Uploaded Files Cleaner.

Further to my post, this thread seemed to be about the same issue, but I don’t get a clear answer from the posted responses.

I am having this same problem. I tried to find this question again in the Plugins and Hacks forum, but I’ve been unable to locate it.

Has an answer to the problem been found? I’m really stuck. Thanks.
