@diondesigns @sterndata – thanks! My host has enabled the JSON extension, and all appears well. Appreciate your help.

@sterndata – already checked, that, and everything is as it should be. No missing files, and all permissions correct.

@diondesigns – I’ll try to sweet talk my host – when this problem first appeared, they refused to help.

Having the same issue. Uploading pics of 800×600, no special characters, no thumbnail generated. CHMOD set to 777, this worked fine before the latest version. Any suggestions, because even manually creating the thumbnail doesn’t work.

Any further suggestions? Got my client yelling blue murder at me, and have no idea how to proceed from here.

-try contacting the hosting provider if there are any limitations/restrictions, etc to run WP 3.1.2 on their server.

-also double check all files/folders got uploaded, plus they got uploaded to the rihgt location

The site migrated from one server to another with the same host. The installation works fine on 2 other sites of mine on the same server, and was working fine with this one since the migration. The host advises it is a script problem. All files are present and correct.

You might also try uploading an entire copy of the WP codebase rather than just meta.php – there’s not much that I can see going on at line 79

Tried that too, as that was what fixed things last time the site went blank. I am officially stumped!

So reuploading the WP files from scratch did it. No idea why it’s been going blank, though.

The information they gave is that “it’s a well known WordPress issue”, and that I need to come here for assistance. I’m currently reinstalling WP on the domain to see if that helps, because this only became permanent after upgrading automatically to the newest version.

I’m getting exactly the same issue.

Have changed the template, reset the plugins folder, deactivated all plugins, and get nothing. My hosts advise me that it is a script issue, not their hosting, but it has been sporadic for a few days, and is now a permanent issue. There are no errors in the php error logs.

Any further suggestions?
