I feel a bit like the blind leading the blind but here goes. I backed up the site with fantastico through the wp option (ie before updating a theme) then I went into cpanel and deleted the themes. Then I re-downloaded twenty eleven and something beautiful happened. It worked, no more ‘hacked by hacker’ but my site came up as it was before.

When I try to install a new download of 2011 from the appearance folder on wp, I get the message ‘intall failed’ . Why ? can someone help please
