    I know Google does not count the dot and ignores capitalization. I did not capitalize the email address in the form, I only used capitalization in my post on this board to obfuscate my email address.

    If it is capitalization that is keeping the address from being validated, perhaps your form could scrub the data by setting it to all lowercase before validating.

    If it is the dot that is keeping it from being validated, many people put a dot in their gmail address and will not be aware that it isn’t necessary. Therefore they will certainly be putting the dot in when filling out the application form.

    Could you not simply ignore the dot in the name portion of the email address?
