If you are looking for an explicit comment preview capability with a “preview” button that works with Textile and other markup I’d recommend this one:

I was changing permissions on a subdirectory of wp-content and apparently changed them on wp-content itself.

Thanks, basketball, I looked at each of the ones in https://www.alexking.org/software/wordpress/theme_browser.php and there are a few with some flexibility — of hand, less than 10% but that’s a start.

estjohn, I understand what you are saying. But given the huge amount of effort that goes into constructing a theme, I’d rather not begin modifying a one until I determine that it’s not brittle. That’s why I was asking for recommendations.

In case someone else like me had the same problem as davidprince did above and didn’t understand his solution (which mentioned whitespace in the livepreview.php file), remove all the trailing whitespace after the final ?> in the file.
If any PHP folks are still reading this old thread, could you tell me what the issue is? The PHP manuals talk about how you don’t have to worry about whitespace.

Okay, I finally got it: you meant in the admin interface’s Options Permalinks. Thanks, works fine now. I trust this is the sort of thing that’s being fixed in 1.3.

Wow, thanks for the quick response! Just a bit to cryptic though. Where do I find that example?

Ah, one more thing: I’ve changed the permalink structure from the default. Could that be a cause of the problem? (I don’t really believe the calendar behavior I am seeing is what is intended.)

Note: the same fix given by Curioso above is needed in template-functions-general.php in the get_bloginfo (about line 21 in my copy of v1.2) if you want your rss etc. feeds to work.
