Since I had not gotten very far on building my page, I deactivated and deleted the theme and deactivated the Gutenverse plugin, then re-installed the theme and started afresh with a new child theme, and the issue seems to have gone away. I still am not sure what caused it and realize that the resolution is not ideal for a case where someone might lose more work.

As far as screenshots to share, literally the only thing that was displaying on the screen underneath the address bar was a blank white page.

Update that when I de-activate the Gutenverse plugin which is required to use with the theme, I can preview content as it would appear without the Gutenverse styling. I have also tested other themes that do not use Gutenverse and am not having this same issue. I did also just post this topic to the Gutenverse plugin forum.
