In reply to: [Grisaille] Custom Menu Not Saving or PublishingI have the same problem. Brand new install of WP4.6.1 , using twenty sixteen theme.
I’ve changed the BG color. I’ve added a header image. I’ve set up Social Links menu.
All of that displays.
Created an About page, added page to primary menu (along with “Home”) in the customizer, went to save the primary menu — and all I get is “Save and Publish”.
Nothing saves. Menu displays on live preview, but does not save.
I edited the menu on the dashboard Appearance –> Menu and saved it – now it displays as “Saved” when I go to the customizer.
So it seems to be an issue with the customizer.I just found a work around (by a user) which seems to cure it for some reason.
If you switch from automatic (below post etc) to manual, then save, and switch it back, it seems to show up again.
Go figure.Right now it’s $9.99 + $4/month subscription for the pro version.

In reply to: List of sub pages on parent pageI’ve figured it out. ??
If you insert the following in your loop-page.php<?php $children = wp_list_pages('title_li=&child_of='.$post->ID.'&echo=0'); if ($children) { ?> <ul id="mainNav"> <div id="locationsNavHead">Categories</div> <?php echo $children; ?> </ul> <?php } ?>
before edit_post_link — you get a nice bulleted list of the subpages of that particular page, without ever having to touch the page.php
I hope this helps someone else. ??
I’ve just uninstalled it for this reason as well.

In reply to: How Do You Make The Link Description Display Beow an ImageI am seriously DUH. ??
I just found I ticked “Link Description” in the widget. Unticked it, and it works just fine now.
Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: How Do You Make The Link Description Display Beow an ImageJust thought I’ll mention that the
<?php wp_list_bookmarks('show_description=0'); ?>
still shows the description.
Since it is said to be “Optional”, it would be nice to get an option to tick on whether a description is shown or not, rather than having to hack the sidebar.php.
As it is (and has been for as long as I’ve used WP) I can’t put a description on any of the links, because the second it’s there, it shows up on the sidebar and clutters everything up. ??
So now I get nothing when I hover, because I don’t want the darn descriptions showing up visible on the sidebar. (Messy.)Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Blogroll Option to turn off Descriptions below LinksI’d like to know the same thing, actually.
I usually simply don’t put a description in, because I never found where you can turn this off.Forum: Alpha/Beta/RC
In reply to: 2.7 Widget AdminThanks for the reply, Jane.
I gotta tell ya though, 2.8 is the very last chance.
Most of my guys still sit on 2.3.3 because of it and I’m being nagged for a different blogging platform nearly every day.
I don’t dare put 2.7 up for a whole bunch of them, based on what the feedback on the test install was, because I’ll be the one who gets to bloody fix it when they screw it all up… :/Forum: Alpha/Beta/RC
In reply to: 2.7 Widget AdminThe one thing I want to see implemented is “SHOW ALL BARS” so people can drag and drop between them.
Why not add it? It would make a lot of people happy. And BTW – Text Widget STILL removes all text that was there when you remove it, so you can add it to another bar.
Unacceptable.Forum: Alpha/Beta/RC
In reply to: Can’t Manage Widgets; Buttons Don’t Work in 2.7-hemorrhageI’ve just installed 2.7 on a testblog.
Is there a way to display both sidebars on the widget page (like in 2.3) so you can drag and drop between them?
If not, then it needs to be there. HAS to be there. It’s the single biggest complaint from all my users (I host multiple sites) and it’s the number one reason for all of us to not upgrade to any new version so far.Sorry, but give me a damn good reason why we can’t have the widget interface from 2.3 back?
2.7 has a lot of improvements, but the widgets still suck the way they are. I want to see both sidebars at the SAME time, not switch between them. I want to be able to drag a widget from one bar to the other, into the position I want it.
I find mostly that images are stolen by “Tubers” – people making PSP tubes.
Renderosity has trouble with it as well, and frequently members alert others that their images are used to make tubes or are on a backgrounds site.
It’s annoying, but mostly because you receive no credit whatsoever for a stolen image, and any watermarking / signature is usually being edited out.
The thing is, it’s not so much about the images being stolen, it’s about name recognition.
As for “Why do you put them up?” — if you are trying to get work doing art, and you don’t have an online portfolio these days, people will usually discount you as not being serious about it.
Small images are being stolen as much as big ones, the people who steal them are usually not concerned about distorting the image by increasing the dimensions beyond what they should be, making your stuff look like crap. That’s not exactly a good advert for the artist.
As for bandwidth… well. I’ve had it, I’ve enabled my hotlink protection, but mostly I use a gallery that won’t let you save an image easily. (There are always ways around it, but most people don’t bother if it involves more than right clicking and saving.)
There is too much other stuff to steal out there which isn’t protected that way.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Can’t Remove / Edit WidgetsSame issue.
Cannot remove widgets. This is a clean install, not widgets installed. I am talking about META / Tag Cloud etc widgets.
I truly despise the new widget area. Before I could drag a widget to a new sidebar and be done with it.
On 2.5 I had to remove, lost all settings, add to other sidebar, redo all settings.
On 2.6 the same thing is the case, only now I can’t even remove the damned thing.Seriously – WHY did the widget menu not go back to the 2.3.3 one which was so much more easy to use with showing all your sidebars.

In reply to: WP 2.6 launching today – July 14, 2008?That’s because… nothing really changed.
At least nothing I could see when I put it on my testblog.
Categories are still below the write area.
Settings etc in Admin panel are still off to the right.
Widgets are still not drag and drop (like they were with 2.3.3)
etc etc etc.My love for WordPress is very quickly mutating to loathe instead.
Seconded.
The categories are still below the post, despite feedback from many many people to have them back on the right.I’m looking for a new blogging platform.
2.6 was the last chance for WP and nothing I hated in 2.5 changed in 2.6, so…
