In reply to: [Auto Submenu] Plugin moves page to the bottom of submenuSomething must have gone wrong with a merge. I’ll look into it, thanks for reporting.
Hi Manu,
did you figure out what caused your theme to limit the nesting depth?
(If no reply is forthcoming from your end, I’ll mark this as resolved.)
Kind regards,
DianaAt first glance this looks like a theme issue. Could it be that it has a maximum menu depth that it renders/supports? You can test this by manually adding menu items several layers deep and seeing what happens then..
Kind regards,
DianaHi Dorian,
in that case, the Salient theme probably also makes changes to the menu structure. This usually shouldn’t cause problems, but there could be a conflict if Salient theme builds a menu structure that does not contain the data my CPCM plugin needs in order to do its work. You could consider opening a support ticket with the Salient team developers, hopefully they’re willing to look into it.
Kind regards,
DianaA theme called “Salient” does not exist in the www.remarpro.com themes directory, which probably means it’s a paid theme. I can’t provide support on paid themes. Can you reproduce the issue with the “Twenty Twenty-One” theme? Please see my reply above.
Hi Manu,
thank you for your message. I’ve just double checked and as far as I can tell the plugin works fine at any nested menu level depth. Here’s how I verified it:
- Disabled all WordPress plugins except CPCM
- Installed and activated the Twenty Twenty-One theme
- Created a new Category “Category A”
- Created a new Post “Post 1” in “Category A”
- Created a new Post “Post 2″ in “Category A”
- Via Appearance > Menus, added Sample page six times, each one below the other. Also, added “Category A” below each occurrence of “Sample page” in the menu
- I’ve checked the checkbox to show the posts in all occurrences of the category
- On all levels the posts are shown.
Could you disable all other plugins and revert to a standard WordPress theme? If the issue persists, I need your help to rebuild your exact case in my test environment.
Kind regards,
DianaHi Dorian,
well, that’s odd, especially since that’s the whole point of the plugin ?? Let’s see if we can figure out what happens.
Could you please:
- Disable all WordPress plugins except mine
- Install and activate the Twenty Twenty-One theme
- Create a new Category “Category A”
- Create a new Post “Post 1”
- Via Appearance > Menus, add Category A to the menu
- Check the checkbox and set no other values
- Set the menu as primary and save it
Could you tell me if that works?
Kind regards,

In reply to: [Auto Submenu] Plugin moves page to the bottom of submenuI’ve just spent some time following your reproduction scenario and I’m afraid for me it works as intended. Here’s what I did.
- Installed and enabled Auto Submenu plugin
- Create a page titled “Menu”
- Create a child page “Submenu 1”, which has parent “Menu”
- Create a child page “Submenu 2”, which has parent “Menu”
- Create a child page “Submenu 3”, which has parent “Menu”
- Create a child page “Submenu 4”, which has parent “Menu”
Current state of menu:
- Menu
- Submenu 1
- Submenu 2
- Submenu 3
- Submenu 4
Next, I updated “Submenu 2”.
- Click “Edit” for “Submenu 2” child page
- Renamed the title to “Submenu 2 updated”
- Pressed “Update”
- Inspect the menu
Current state of menu:
- Menu
- Submenu 1
- Submenu 2 updated
- Submenu 3
- Submenu 4
If the problem persists, could you please provide more information on which steps to take to reproduce it?
Please note, in my above scenario I have not used the “Order” field. If you set the page order, WordPress should still honor that.

It’s true that when the child pages are updated, they are updated in the menu also, but what you report indeed isn’t what I intended. I’ll investigate what’s going wrong.
