Just discovered that I WAS able to make the fields not required, but the ‘*’ still appears making them appear required.
Must be a bug. I’ll get to Github and report

I did. Got hit really hard last week and there was at least on other person that posted here as well.
I was already using the Askimet integration which seemed to be doing the trick.

I ended up adding a quiz which plugged the leak, but sadly, I worry that some folks won’t pass it.

Askimet has been very helpful for blog comment spam. Totally worth it for that. I’m not finding that it’s helped with this issue though.
For all I know it has helped in the past & it just failed me yesterday. Again – if I try to use really obvious words like “viagra” it does catch it. The stuff I got yesterday was much more clever

I hate CAPTCHAs but the quiz seem to do the trick. I just have to trust that people know the answer to 1+1 ??

I’m in the process of setting up Cloudflare (https://www.cloudflare.com/) I’m hoping that it might help with this.

I got hit hard yesterday too.
I’ve been using Askimet which works when I try ‘viagra’ in the subject line, but didn’t stop the massive flow of spam.
I added the quiz which took care of it, but I really wish the Askimet solution would work.

I rolled back to 4.4 and so far, so good.

I get ‘page not found’ when I click on the (taxonomy) links.

I’ve tried it with the default theme as well as my own (Thematic) theme.

I’m having the same issue with 2.8.

It works perfectly on a local installation – but not on my shared server.

The problem I was having was a conflict with the shortcode.
I changed [random-quote] to [stray-quote] and it seems to be working.
(line 601 in stray-quotes.php)

I’ve got an instance of NextGen killing ‘Stray Random Quotes’ – any thoughts on a work around – I really need (want) both

– opps – plugin conflict – this does work with 2.8 beta2

This worked beautifully in 2.7 – I’m not having any luck with 2.8 beta 2…

any thoughts?
