    maybe then you should look into the Mars Edit’s installation folder & see if it stores its HTML tag library in a separate file or something. If yes, then you can perhaps add your tags to that list & then I think Mars Edit will not strip out your tags. I did something like this with Dreamweaver when I wanted it to treat a custom file extension as PHP file!! ??

    better browser?? one thing that’s better for a person might not be for another person!! ?? its just a point of view!! who says IE ain’t a better browser? it sure is, if you know how to force it into submission!! ??

    now don’t start the sales pitch(or a flame war)!! ??

    browsers aren’t new to me, nor to you I think. we are past that stage(I think I’m) & use what’s best for us. ??

    anyway, I do have FireFox installed, as well as Opera!! ??

    I’ve my own blog hosted with another host where I’m using all of the same plugins except wp-db-backup, wp-cron & wp-shortstat. I’ve not had any problems there & that blog gets more traffic than this one.

    I’ve disabled the wp-db-backup & wp-cron, lets see if the memory usage comes down!!

    huh, if it were me, I wouldn’t switch to firefox just to use a cool looking theme in wp-admin!! too much of a hassle!! ??

    I like using a client so that I can compose drafts, spell check, format, etc.

    Not trying to nit-pick or nag you, but all that can be done in the web-interface as well. You can save drafts, spell check can be had using a plugin(I’ve it as well, though I don’t use it much), format your posts(using a WYSIWYG editor which is inbuilt in WP2.0 & plugins are available for WP1.5.x). So don’t think that web-interface is inferior!! ??

    But if you intend to stick with a client & if MarsEdit continues to give problems, maybe then you should look for another client. Ecto is one that I know of, and there was this thread here in the forums on blog clients for Windows & OS-X.

    @michelv:
    I don’t know of memory usage without plugins, but as far as I know if I disable WP-Cache2, it’ll be qutite high. As for homemade plugins, one is my own iG:Syntax Hiliter which beautifies code, its used on many sites, haven’t had any issue with it at all. Another one just prepends the url of a redirector for any external links in comments, again not much load intensive IMHO.

    @markjaquith:
    I would’ve thought of this as well, but the thing is that the timing doesn’t concide with WP-DB-Backup’s execution. I don’t manually backup plugin, WP-Cron makes a backup once every 24hrs at midnight. But I’ve had this “pages dying on me” problem at different times, sometimes in the afternoon, sometimes in evening & today early in the morning at about 3am as well. So, can wp-db-backup still be in consideration as the source of problem?

    also, if you notice in the logs that I posted, post.php is also going above limit, besides index.php & as I mentioned, when I get the error after publishing a post, the post gets saved in DB but trackbacks don’t go out & I doubt even pingomatic is being sent any ping!!

    well, the only reason I can think of then is that mars edit is stripping out non HTML tags. try & look for a setting in it to allow non-standard HTML tags. if its not there, then you can look for another client tool or use the web-interface only to post(I’m myself not in favour of using a blog client).

    yeah well, the one who created the plugin originally states on the download page that because IE doesn’t support CSS2, this interface doesn’t work in IE. So I thought maybe you did more than just image changes!! ??

    If you are a coder, no matter in whatever language, all you’ve to do is write a script that will take the contents of static HTML pages & insert them in MySQL db of wordpress, no PHP knowledge required for this, can be done in any language, be it web-based like ASP or .NET or Python or client based like VB, C#, Java etc!!

    why not simply break out of frames using a piece of JS?

    the screenshot looks cool Kahil, does this thing work in IE6+? b’coz I know that the Tiger theme didn’t.

    try using the web interface of WordPress, in plain view without WYSIWYG & also diable the option of “Fix invalid xHTML” in Options menu at WordPress admin. then try it!!

    sorry i dont read comments usually …

    you should read comments, a lot of times they contain quite a bit of useful info & that’s particularly true with posts regarding any theme/plugin etc. since others using it might’ve posted their problem(s) & their solutions might exist there, which may be the ones you are looking for!! ??

    vkaryl, I agree with you. FAQs look good on the homepage(since no other page is available publicly on the main WordPress.com site except the signup page), where people look for them. I wonder how many people will remember to look at the footer in the admin section when the box to compose a post is at about halfway of the page length & that page is the most used, you don’t visit the options tab etc. more regularly than that, except dashboard. ??

    kichu, I don’t think that localization is possible as yet, if you mean having the WP-Admin in a non-english language at WordPress.com. I guess you’ll have to host your own WordPress if you want that. However you can blog in a language other than english as long as its in unicode since WordPress supports unicode. Like I’m blogging in Hindi at https://itsme.wordpress.com/ and anyone can read it without any problems as long as they are using a unicode supporting browser like IE6 or Opera on a unicode supporting os.

    we really don’t support wordpress.com blogs

    its good to know that there’s no restriction on the language!! ??

    and guess I just missed the link at the footer in the admin section, last place I’d think of looking for a link like that!! ??
