Thanks Rohan! Apologies, I wasn’t sure where to post this.

Thanks! Yeah, that will definitely be helpful. I was going crazy trying to figure out how the heck it was disabled. I thought it was some feature that disabled it because I had initiated a bulk compress option through the CLI so it didn’t want the user to change the resolution while it was running.

Good to know that you will add that back in. Very helpful! Thanks for the great plugin!

Btw, I just noticed that you guys manage both plugins. Just a suggestion, but under the Resize Image area of the settings page, it could help to include something like “these settings are overridden by Imsanity” under the text “Resize uploaded images to these dimensions (in pixels).”.

ugh! wow, really annoying. Just after I posted this. I was refreshing the media page and noticed it too so long to load and I thought, hmm, I have imsanity also active, which is probably causing the long load time as the database needs to be queried for both imsanity and Ewww to disable on the media list page. I wonder if Imsanity being active is disabling this feature. Yep, it was. Now that I disabled imsanity, I can edit the fields again. What a waste of time.

Anyway, I thought I would leave this post here to help someone else, because I searched everywhere on google for this and no results came up. Hopefully this post saves someone a few hours.

Thanks for the posts and advice both of you! @johnny5 I did take a look at the expiry options. I have Redirect Logs set to “1 week” and 404 Logs set to “1 day”. And I just jumped over to see what’s in the 404s log and there are already 36,000 entries. It doesn’t seem to be exactly 1 day though, as I see records in with a date stamp of today on the 27th and the oldest on the 25th. But nothing before then. However, I haven’t cleared this table in the past week, so it does appear to be working, just not exactly one day (not sure how it calculates).

Anyway, what’s strange is, I didn’t even touch these settings when I went to clear out the 404 logs when it had 3M records. So I would assume it was already set with 1 day expiry. So very strange, maybe some how my site got 3M hits within a 24 hr period to the dead links. I wouldn’t think so, but not sure what else would have caused it.

Ill monitor the 404s log now to see if it sticks to clearing out the logs automatically within a 1-2 day delay.

Yes, it is very bizarre. I only have the default plugins provided by WordPress and the main plugins loaded by the theme I installed (ListingPro). I spoke to their support team, and they said that their plugin should not touch anything to do with redirection. So I have no idea what is redirecting outside of this plugin. Anyway, most of the concern has been resolved by importing in the old Drupal permalinks. Thanks again for your always helpful and detailed replies.

    Have a great day!

Well, I couldn’t figure out why the random redirect was happening, as I checked all the enabled plugins and none of them are redirection plugins nor should they be doing the redirection.

Anyway, in the end, I just decided to take all my old Drupal listings and through them in a spreadsheet and match up with the new paths in wordpress and import them using the Redirection plugin.

But I think I will keep yours enabled for catching any random traffic where people may be looking for some content that no longer exists, but similar content does.

    Thanks!

Thank you! I will try the redirect recommendation you just posted. Also, I have sent you an email through your contact form in the footer. Thanks!

So this behavior is very bizarre. I don’t have any other redirect plugins enabled on my site except yours.

For most URL links it will give me your debug screen when I try to access the link. And when I disable your plugin, it will give me a 404 page.

But here is the strange thing. When I attempt to go to the link as I mentioned previously:

    sitename.com/jp/japan/shopping/3222/diamond-palace-tokyo

it forwards to an image attachment page (ex. sitename.com/listing/the-westin-nagoya-castle/attachment/castle2/)

However, if I remove the 3222 from the URL (ex. sitename.com/jp/japan/shopping/3222/diamond-palace-tokyo) it will give me a 404 page when your plugin is disabled, and it when it’s enabled, it will display your debug page.

So it seems it has something to do with having a random number listed within the path.

    Any ideas?

Is there a way you can PM me? I can provide you with the URL of both my old site and new site so you can see. I would just like to not list it here on the public forum. Sorry for being a pain. Thanks!

    Hi there,

Thanks for the quick response! Yes, my new wordpress site has the format of:

    sitename.com/listing/diamond-palace.

(Note that it is not Diamond-Palace-Tokyo, but just diamond-palace. This is because my old Drupal site would append the location of the place onto the URL.

So basically my old Drupal site has the URL structure which is sitename.com/jp/japan/shopping/3222/diamond-palace-tokyo.

So I tested a few combinations of the URL with your plugin to see what would happen. Below are the results:

sitename.com/jp/japan/shopping/3222/diamond-palace-tokyo – redirected to the wrong listing (actually it goes to an attachment page of a photo – not a content page)

sitename.com/japan/shopping/3222/diamond-palace-tokyo – redirected to the wrong listing (actually it goes to an attachment page of a photo – not a content page)

sitename.com/shopping/3222/diamond-palace-tokyo – redirected to the wrong listing (actually it goes to an attachment page of a photo – not a content page)

sitename.com/3222/diamond-palace-tokyo – redirected to the correct listing. yeah!

sitename.com/diamond-palace-tokyo – redirected to the correct listing. yeah!

sitename.com/jp/japan/shopping/diamond-palace-tokyo – redirected to a listing for a ramen shop (I simply removed the number, and it redirected me to a listing of a ramen shop).

I’m guessing the results differ because it’s looking at the other values in the URL and some of them match with one category (which is cities) and another category (which is the listing type – e.g. daily-life). Which is why I thought if I could just edit a setting in your plugin to restrict the matching to let’s say only titles, I think it would have a fairly high accuracy rate. I do think this would add a lot of value to your plugin, if you had checkboxes on the config page, where you could enable or disable matching items (title, tag, category, or date).

Regarding your request to run in debug mode. I enabled the debug mode and then tried to load my old permalink (sitename.com/jp/japan/shopping/3222/diamond-palace-tokyo.) and it just redirected me to the incorrect attachment page of a castle image. No debug screen or information came up. Behavior was exactly the same as prior to checking the debug mode checkbox and hitting save. I am also logged in as the only user on the site (also the admin).

I tried again, by just using the shortened incorrect path, such as sitename.com/diamond-palace-tokyo, and then the debug screen displayed.

    Thanks again!

    Hi Thomas,

Thanks for your reply. That’s a shame to hear that there is no such feature to disable this. Let me explain my particular situation and why I need this. I have pages on my site which are to display a embedded youtube video. I’m using a plugin which creates a featured image from those videos automatically for that page. The reason I am doing this, is because on another page in the site, I am using the “content views” module to display a list of all pages with the assigned category. It displays all of these pages as a table with the page title, a button to go to that page, and a thumbnail of the featured image of that page. If I had a page with just a list of text titles of the pages, I think users wouldn’t be so enticed to click on one of the videos to watch, as they can’t imagine what the video will be about. So hence I use the featured image field.

Therefore I can’t simply remove the featured image on these pages, otherwise there would be no thumbnail in the list view. I tried the plugin “hide featured image”. Unfortunately, it seems that plugin is not maintained, and with the latest version of wordpress, it does not work.

So what I am hoping for is the ability, within the theme settings, to disable the featured image for pages, as it able to be done for posts. I found another plugin with only about 70 installed sites in use, which hides the featured image. that appears to work, but I”m not a fan of it, because it simply removes the header image completely. I would like to keep the default banner header displayed at the top of the page, just not to replace it with the video thumbnail.

This theme is beautiful and fits all the other needs, unfortunately this one makes the site look a bit bad, because the video thumbnails are often in a square proportion and therefore look quite bad when displayed in the header section.

Any advice you could give would be greatly appreciated. I have been a long time drupal user, and just moved 4 of my sites over to WordPress, as I was stuck on Drupal 6, and really didn’t want to do through the whole migration process. Easier just to export all data and setup new sites in WordPress. So far, really liking the platform, I’m just a novice at navigating it and knowing how to hack things up.

Just grabbed the latest copy of the theme. AWESOME! Totally love it!

Just left you a 5 star review…I hope others find your fantastic theme.

“Awesome theme. It was just what I was looking for, for my food blog website. The layout is perfect for food bloggers and restaurant owners that want to highlight photos of their food and really give the user a visual experience.

I love that they added support for 3 levels of menus and added the footer widget sections. Well done…HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS THEME!”

Thanks Alex! I look forward to the updated version. I’m still just playing around with this site idea. If things start to gain traction, I will definitely be coming to you for a fully customized solution of the theme. Thanks!

Did you find out how to do this? I would like to know as well. Is there a shortcode that we can perhaps use to load it in a text widget or in a post???

    Hi Alex,

While I have you. Is there any chance of the next update of your theme supporting Jetpack’s Infinite Scroll. This would be a fantastic feature if it worked with restaurante…I’m new to wordpress, so I didn’t want to hack up the theme. So I thought I would just ask and maybe wait for the next version.

    Infinite Scroll
At this time, your theme, Restaurante, doesn’t support Infinite Scroll. Unlike other Jetpack modules, Infinite Scroll needs information from your theme to function properly.

Until your theme supports Infinite Scroll, you won’t be able to activate this module.

If you are a theme author, you can learn about adding support for Infinite Scroll at https://jetpack.me/support/infinite-scroll/.

    Thanks!
