do we put this in the root of the wordpress folder or the root of the entire webspace?? i use 1and1 and my company host lots and lots of sites. i have wordpress in just the one folder within the entire webspace and am worried that if i need to upload it in the root of the entire webspace it will mess something up on one of the other many websites that are hosted there..

Thankyou for the help – this looks great, I am actually a real beginner so do you think i should actually do a simple wordpress installation first before I try this? Its just im not sure how simple the uploading part is, nor am i familiar with mySQL really.

do you think i should do this before attempting or do you think there are tutorials that can help me with the uploading and database part step by step as im doing the duplicating instead of me having to do a normal installation first?

Or do you think it’s better for me to do that because this is complicated?

ps – i am using 2.9.1 and wanting to upgrade to 2.9.2.

when upgrading plugins i get a similar issue when trying to update automatically:

Unpacking the update.

Installing the latest version.

Deactivating the plugin.

Removing the old version of the plugin.

Could not remove the old plugin.

Plugin upgrade Failed.

* i have tried my best to make sure all my plugins are compatible for my version of wordpress.
