For the record, if other people have the same question:

* this would be a good feature, developers please note: a checkbox which says “developer mode—no wrapper divs”

Thanks but that really doesn’t answer my question. It tells me how to style the many DIVs which this plugin wraps around the content. I don’t want any of those DIVs. I want my own!

I’ve read through them, and thanks, but none of those things are the problem. I got a straightforward, clear error message which said that the problem was about permissions. I went in with SSH and fixed the permissions, and the problem went away.

Maybe I really am just incredibly unlucky.

Well, like I said, I’m a small sample, but it’s a 100% failure rate on three different kinds of server.
