I see. Thanks for the additional information. It a shame that a few often spoil things for the many.
My view of that is that it would self regulate. People who spam their subscribers don’t have subscribers for very long; they simply unsubscribe. And if someone is going to spam, they can do it simply by creating and posting new posts with increased frequency, or cloning their posts and changing the URLS. There are many ways around it. But conscientious bloggers such as myself don’t do stuff like that. We want to keep and grow our subscriber base, not annoy subscribers, which is why the PW workaround is great – I won’t be annoying my subscribers with posts they can see.
Thanks for letting me know if and when you decide to add the feature.
Awesome. Thanks Jeremy; I really appreciate that. I also appreciate that you added the capability to download subscribers to .csv though no idea when that was done.
One thing that would be super useful to me is to have the capability to resend “old” posts to subscribers so newer subscribers can be exposed to archives without having to create new posts. If that’s possible, that would be great. Thanks again.
Susan
I know that’s what they see, but it doesn’t make sense to send PW protected posts to readers. People are generally not very smart – they click on the email link and go to the post anyway because the title grabs them and then they don’t have a password. Then they wonder why they don’t have a password, then the feel cheated, then they want a password, why don’t I have a PW they wonder? Aren’t I special enough? then they get pissed off.
I makes no sense whatsoever to send an email to readers telling them they need a pw to view a post. I really wish you would change that, because it is protecting something with a PW is now completely useless to me unless i use if for an old post and why would I do that?
Thanks
Jeremy, I went to the contact page and sent you a message. The other issue I have is that I posted something Password Protected and it went out to all my subscribers. I don’t want Password protected posts to go to my subscribers. It defeats the whole purpose ??
I’ve just had the same issue since updating to the new version. Don’t like the new way it gives stats either. Much preferred the old.
How now to send out posts to subscribers to have not received them?
Help please jetpack
If you can’t or won’t change Jetpack to allow this, do you know of another plug in I might use to do so? Thanks, Susan
Dear Jeremy,
I also used to do this (i.e. change the post to draft or pending and then republish it). I found it to be a REALLY USEFUL function because it then allows old posts to be sent to new subscribers who have not seen the posts before.
Would you/Could you make it so that old posts can be resent please? I for one would really appreciate the ability to do this; it preserves old comments and averts having to duplicate content which in my view is not a good thing.
Any chances you might implement this request? Thanks, Susan

In reply to: password protected pages all of a sudden visible to allthanks girlieworks
it seems others also not able to reproduce, not sure why
I’m logged out of admin
usually, when I change visibility status, no notification is sent to subscribers
and subscribers don’t get notification when I publish PW protected posts. Maybe that has changed in 4.6 to which I updated a few hours ago?
I’m afraid to switch themes because I’m techno illiterate ?? I have a developer who seems unavailable at the moment

She was trying from her mobile phone. She was later successful on her computer.
Thanks for the rest, and the good jetpack plugin which overall I find great.

Thanks Jeremy,
So what if someone subscribes but they don’t get the confirmation email for some reason, or they miss it, or it goes in junk or whatever.
For example, I asked a friend to try to subscribe last night, she did not get the confirmation email; no idea why.
Other than going to https://subscribe.wordpress.com/ is there another way for her to activate her subscription? Can I do it from my side somehow?
Is there a way for me to see unconfirmed subscriptions to my site?
Thanks again,
Susan

In reply to: [WP SMS Notifications] International UsageHey JeffMatson,
I’m trying to get help to get my audio to play front end my website here:
https://myalzheimersstory.com/2014/03/27/alzheimers-caregiver-q-a-with-cbc-quebec-am/
I started a thread two weeks ago and got no replies, but I saw you helped someone else on another thread.
The audio played front end when I created the post and then at some unknown point stopped working. It plays backend and on one of my other sites here:
https://shequotes.com/2014/07/03/shequotes-on-conquering-fear-quote-fear-courage-determination/
I would be most grateful for your help. BTW, I’m tech impaired novice ??
Thanks, Susan
