As weird as it sounds, I can’t. I don’t know why the option is gone now, but it is. I just recently updated all my plugins and Genesis and my theme. So maybe something happened there. I’m attaching a screenshot anyway, though it’s likely useless at this point. Where the button says “update” there was another button next to it that said “replace”. So that’s how I was doing it before.

ok wow, just finished my comment and can’t find an option to attach a screenshot. It’s clearly Monday! LOL

Okay I got that to work. However, I want to do this on many of my articles. Like hundreds. So I don’t really want to have to hardcode the shortcode in every time. Do you think there’s an easy way to edit the plugin files to allow for more than one user on a blanket basis? I’m guessing no :/

Forgive me, but where do I put this shortcode?

Thank you for responding ?? Can you show me a demo page or a screen shot?

Perzen I cannot thank you enough! I’ve been searching high and low and that did it! Now I just need to search out how to move the title below the image and limit the title characters. ?? Thank you again!

Hi perzen. Looks like you figured this out. Would you mind sharing what the answer was?

I admit when I saw the upgrade available and it said there were fixes to the media area, I was excited thinking that at least the default would be changed to “uploaded” to this post. LOL Probably premature thinking ?? I haven’t experienced any freezes where I had to shut down, but these are the two consistent things I’ve noticed:

    1) Not every time, but about 10% of the time after I drag a photo over to upload it, I’m unable to go any further. I can’t change the title or alt tag, can’t insert it, can’t select a different photo, etc. It’s like a freeze, but hitting the escape button removes the upload window. When that does happen, it often take 2-3 times of going in and out of the media uploaded, and even occasionally saving the post as draft, exiting the post and going back in before I can select and insert the image.

    2) This is minor, but irritating and noticeable. What I’ve been doing when I add an image is I type the title of the image, copy it, and tabl down twice to the alt field and paste it in. Since the upgrade I have to paste twice as the first attempt doesn’t work. So in other words, my process is… type words, Com+A (mac), Com+C, tab, tab, Com+V, Com+V. No idea why I have to do the paste command twice. It’s consistent every single time, so it’s not an isolated or occasional thing.

Thanks to the WP developers for all their hard work and hearing us out on our issues! ??

@webtaurus sorry about that, I missed that, this thread is getting large ??

Hi all. Just wanted to share a plugin that I stumbled across that may help some of you with the “set featured image” annoyance. It’s a drag & drop featured image box that replaces the current featured image box on the right side of the post editor.

I’ve tested out and found that after I drag and drop an image, a progress circle appears but never goes away, thus displaying the image. However, once the post is published the featured image is in fact there.

The other thing, and they DO state this in the plugin description, is that if you use the select from media library option, once the image is selected the page WILL refresh to add the image. So that could be an issue if your post is half written and you haven’t saved as draft to save changes.

Anyway, if anyone is interested here it is

@jkputnam I don’t use galleries so I can’t confirm what you are saying about that, however I have noticed it when inserting photos into a post. For example, if the image in the library is 800 pixels wide and I choose my default medium set width of 600 px, that image is not as sharp. This didn’t used to be the case. For me it’s an annoyance because I can simply reduce the size of the photo, but for you I could definitely see how that would be a big problem :-/

Since I was one of the first people to state that I wasn’t happy with certain aspects, I should probably state that I DO like the “delete permanently” option for deleting an image. It seems easier than the old way. ?? Don’t want anyone to think I don’t appreciate all the work that goes into WordPress as I truly do!

I’d like to add one more thing to my post above. Something else I noticed is that the media upload window no longer remembers your image size preference from the settings. For example, on one of my blogs I have the medium size set to 400 pixels. The old window automatically resized any image that I added to a post to the 400 width, unless I specified otherwise. It doesn’t do that anymore. I have to select the medium size now. More of an annoyance than anything, but it is just one more thing to slow me down. ?? I agree with what Sapphire said about trying to figure out a user that might find the other changes helpful (the removal of setting a featured image and inserting a post at the same time), but I just can’t. I too appreciate everything the developers are doing, but it’s a bummer having to get into a whole new work flow to adapt to these changes that I didn’t ask for :-/

Hi arrisje. They did create a temporary work around while they work on the permanent solution. Here it is:

Thank you so much for alerting us to the issues the WordPress update created for our PlugIn [for users that let us know about the problem] users. Here at ZipList, we’ve fielded many support questions late last night and today and have been working very hard on a solution. What we have available for you now is a workaround, aka a temporary solution. This workaround will correct any post errors since the WordPress release AND for future posts that you write. Our team is already hard at work on a permanent solution, and we’ll send that to you as soon as it’s available.

Please take a careful look at the instructions in this link, https://gist.github.com/b17ad8275286c4ae5d32, and let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks, in advance, for your patience and support.

I’d like to add my two cents as well. While it looks much nicer, for my purposes it’s actually more steps for me on all three of my blogs. In the old interface I could select an image for insertion AND set it as the featured image in one step. Now I have to select what image will be the featured image, which then exits the image library. Then I have to go back in and insert my image into the post. Not to mention that the default for the library is now “all media items” when it really should be “uploaded to this post” ?? I appreciate change and improvement, but it’s frustrating when an already long process of creating a post is made longer by something like this.

Is there a way around the featured image selection issue and the default drop down choice?

I’m having the same problem. I have version 4.0.1 and have to click Tweet Now in order for it to tweet anything. I have it set for every 5 hours.
