  • Some of us aren’t using Jetpack though, and still are having the issues too. I’ve resorted to FB scraping the short/permalink and the longer URL to insure that the image shows as intended. Maybe that’s what FB wants, no auto posting, who the heck knows at this point.

And yet, when I go over to the FB Dev, they say that we have to state the image:og w and h tags. They insist that’s the issue, but people are still having trouble. I guess I should count myself lucky that my scrapes are still producing acceptable results. Sigh, this is frustrating to say the least and it’s got to be frustrating for the plug in developers who have been left in the lurch with this change from FB.

Me too. Frustrating, I have to debug the actual url, then debug the permalink version of the post as well.

Not getting that message, but I have had to resort to publishing the post – and then going over to FB Debugger and rescraping both the actual post URL and then rescraping the permalink url a few times to get it to recognize the large sized graphic that I want shared.

I replicated the problem in a website without my “next scripts” posting plugin, so it’s not their problem. Something is getting lost in the transmission from wp posting to FB. It used to be there, now it’s not.

Jane, have you found a solution yet? I’m having the same problem and up until May 5thish, everything worked fine for me too.. then it stopped. I too do not use jetpack, and never have. Have it deleted from my sites. Are you using Yoast?

The only thing I can get to replicate is when the post is “scheduled”. When a post is direct to publish for me, my Shortlink button(permalink) stays put, but the minute you change the date, and schedule the post, boom gonzo.

The problem further causes posting issues in Facebook, if your blog gets shared. I have had to “debug” through FB’s Developer site in order to get the post done correctly (with correct sized media file).

Hope someone picks up on this problem. I’ve also posted a thread about it – hoping someone will see the issue.

My FB Api is up to date. What I noticed last night was that the post was correct in FB when I published immediately, but not when I scheduled it for a future time/date.

I debugged, previous postings, sometimes had to debug 2 or 3 times to get FB to recognize the post in the method I wanted it posted.

Anyone else missing their “short link” button when you try to schedule as opposed to publishing immediately?

Whatever is going on started around May 5th.
